What have you done to your P5 today?

Replaced the rear brakes at the local Mazda dealer (I know, I know, but the labour charge was reasonable and the parts price was less than I priced out at Canadian Tire). When prowling the lot, I came across another P5. This one was beaten senseless. Every panel rusted, steel wheels with...

    Ooops... I broke it again.

Broke the same bolt (rear speed sensor) yesterday. Got to see rusted backing plates, too. The good news is that the sensor is a super tight fit, so I am going to leave it the way it is and not try to remove the broken bolt.

Protege5 RPM, Battery, and Suspension problem

A seized caliper will not lock up the wheel, but will not allow the piston to retract after the brake pedal is released. There will be some brake drag and increased wear on the pads and rotor. The calipers are cheap from parts suppliers/ebay etc (20-30 bucks each)

    Tires

What size tires that fit on 17x8 wheels is only part of the process. You also need to consider what fits on the car. Stock height suspension will fit a different sized wheel/tire that lowered. Generally, a stock height P5 can accommodate a 17x7 wheel and 205-40/17 tires. Others on this forum...

Used protege5 from craigslist need help

If valve seals and valve seats are worn, one common symptom is blue smoke out the tailpipe when decelerating. White smoke is sometimes a symptom of burning coolant from a head gasket failure, that could cause oil burning. If the oil is milky on the dipstick or under the oil cap, this could...

    Removing Tint & Minor Concerns

Among many things to consider is whether bringing your car to Canada is more cost-effective than selling it and buying one here. Prices for the Protege5 range from 500 to 5000 here. I bought mine in November for 3100 (5 speed with 123000km/74000mi). Also, looking online at Mazda info about...

    Buzzing in steering wheel ?

Could be CV joint. Check to see if the rubber boot is torn where the axle meets the hub. Could be as simple as pickimng up some crud inside one of the wheels that has thrown off the wheel balance.

What have you done to your P5 today?

I locked the keys in the car while on an outing. Checking out the used lot at the local Mazda dealer. I left the keys in the ignition while checking out a Mazda3. The ign. was turned to acc. with the radio playing. in less than 5 minuted of tire kicking, the P5 had locked all doors. Had to...
