08 Mazda5 here. last couple weeks I have also noticed this thump/clunk noise particularly when going slow over a speedbump, coming up into the driveway, uneven pavement etc. It sounds like a rubbery thump like a tire or something but the suspension HAS to be the issue. I've read SEVERAL threads...
interesting. I know on one of the GTI forums, there's a guy with a built up corolla who's embarassing/surprising quite a few people and pretty sure the car is still NA. Maybe that's not surprising to some, but I was like dayum! It's one of the newer ones-XLR or whatever it's called.
R32 was an 08 only model importing 5,000 units. most were sold I'm guessing. The 04's all sold and at a bit more rapid pace than the 08's. A big part of the slower sales in 08 has to be that no manual was offered but VW did manage to get rid of most of them. There are some used ones available...
you might consider waiting for the R20. It's the next AWD VW with a upgraded version of the GTI 2.0 TSI motor and should have DSG and 6 spd. Should have output of the R32 but not the same weight but obviously you lose the sweet sounds of the VR6.
DSG is fantastic if you can't have a stick as it...
looks wise, I thinks it's subjective. I like the plaid. That said, my GTI has the anthracite leather seats which are a little nicer (and heated). They're dark gray/black and very supportive but a common gripe with the VW seats are the funky dials and ways to adjust them. The lumbar is the only...
how come every other thread is griping on how fugly the new MS3 is but then you stick up for it against the rivals? and I'd take the plaid seats over the new MS3 red pokadotted stuff all over the inside. The new Golf/GTI is getting all sorts of praise.
I think a big part of it is just the fact...
You could easily compound that spot out with either a rotary or DA polisher and some OTC compound like Meguiar's or 3M. Follow it up with a finer polish, then a wax/sealant.
If you're not experienced, stay away from the rotary as you can certainly burn through the clear cloat if you're not...
For over the counter/easy to find the Gold Class is pretty decent. Next Meguiar's has a new improved shampoo that should be worth a try. If you have a carquest (autoparts) store nearby you HAVE to try the Duragloss shampoo. It's really nice. Actually, ALL the duragloss products are awesome and...
yes-chip a GTI (stage 1)and HP goes from 200 to around 245 and torque goes to like 290. Intakes do absolutely nothing in the GTI which I think you guys actually get decent gains with an intake right? Most GTI stock dynos I've seen actually come close to the advertised crank HP. WHP around 190...
As a GTI owner, it's always nice to see the GTI win these comparos but nobody can deny the MS3 is faster out of the box and handles better. Looks are subjective on the both interior and exterior. I think the 1st gen MS3 aged a bit better than the GTI. In 06-07 I thought the GTI looked great but...
OP will probably regret the tat later in life. Over in the vdubb world there are plenty of die hard VW huys that have the symble on their calf or whatever. VW cult following is a bit more rooted than mazdaspeed but they'll probably regret it later also. what happens if you buy a vette later or a...
STI-higher insurance, costlier maintenance. not sure what exactly a routine oil change, tire rotation costs on an STI but it's more than the average turbo car. (considering always synthetic in all turbo cars).
Outside of that, heck yeah it's an awesome car.
