    I find it very hard to believe that Mazda will produce a Mazdaspeed Protege5, if for no other reason than that no one will pay more money for a Mazdaspeed Protege5 than a Mazdaspeed Protege- the sedan will handle better and go faster if for no other reason than it weighs less and is a more rigid...

    Why not the P5?

    I believe the reason Mazda corporate would give, Roger Foo notwithstanding, is that the sedan is a much tighter, more rigid platform to build around than the hatchback/sport wagon. A rear strut tower brace might fix that to a certain degree, but would also make the protege5 a bit less utilitarian.

    Gas Brand and Mileage

    I believe there was a study some time ago where Amoco, Mobil and Shell came out as the cleanest/best brands of gasoline. I'm personally a big believer in a bottle of Techron from Chevron at least a couple of times a year to really clean the injectors.

    PR5 Seat Covers..........

    Its not cloth or tweed, but Wet Okole makes neoprene(?) seat covers that are waterproof (made of wet suit material) and custom fit per car. Not cheap, but you get your choice of insert color/pattern with black side bolsters. http://www.wetokole.com -g
