I've used K&N in the past without problem.
The only issue that I have heard of is that people improperly re-oil after cleaning the filter and then have problems with their MAF. It takes a limited amount of oil to reload the filter do not get carried away.
I'm running the Mazdaspeed CAI...
This is a really interesting thread for me. I do not typically have an issue with my car. I do mostly non highway driving. I also typically play my radio pretty high. It was not until recently when I was doing highway driving with my wife that I was bothered by the drone.
With the radio off...
SLO I think the issue is that they have had the car for 5 days and have not found the solution. If it were me I would have asked them what they have done, what they have found, and what they expect to try next.
I would want to know that they have been working to resolve the problem as opposed...
The stock sub has a plug that goes into it. Just pull up the passenger seat and there will be a plug going into the sub that you can pull right out.

Changed the grounding recently and it did not make any difference. I put a larger connection on the end of the 8 ga ground cable, polished the paint off the bottom on one of the seat bolts and then tightened it up and still have the same noise.
My next step is to pull the RCA cables out and...
Man I would like to take a look at the oil that comes out of that crankcase. I wonder how much metal had to get worn off that part in order for it to get that loose and make that kind of noise.

I did not get a plastic one in my glove box either.
I know that at my dealer it got so bad that the Speed3 on the showroom floor was displayed without a cap because they had 2 or 3 of them stolen right off the floor.

If you really want to change the oil yourself NAPA carries a good one manufactured by WIX under the Napa Gold label. I think they sell it for about $5.

What I don't like is the info on the TSB about the oil change to remove contaminants - also the reference to hardening the parts. Seems like the original part was too soft and was getting worn by the "pins" of the variable valve system. Looks like it had nothing to do with "oil" as they told...
Vord I am running a fairly small amp. It is 200 watts RMS bridged into a 10" subwoofer in the hatch area. I am running 8 ga power and ground cables.
I will try grounding to one of the seat bolts and see if that clears it up.
Ed.
Vord I am using for a ground a screw hole that was used by the factory subwoofer assembly for grounding - I did grind off all the paint around the contact area. I have been thinking about putting a large end on my amp cable and then grounding that through one of the seat anchor bolts...
