Did I pay too much for my M3s? Or is it a decent deal?

Personally, I think you got a decent deal. Just for comparison, when my 2003 Protege5 was totaled, the insurance agency gave me about 6 grand for it with 136k miles. But, this is all dependent on the region. Before I decided to buy new, I couldn't find a decent car for what I considered a decent...

    Roro's P5

Nice looking P5 you have there. I'm kind of in the same boat as you as far as budget is concerned. I would LOVE to lower the car a bit, but money has been rather prohibitive. I did just order my wiper arm though!

    2003 Protege5 vs. 2002 Protege5: what's better, what's different?

I should really check out a local junk yard to see if at least the trunk tray organizer is in a P5. Out of everything that my car is missing, that is the one thing I would really like to have. ABS would be nice as well, but I have no clue what I would really need to remove from the car or even...

    2003 Protege5 vs. 2002 Protege5: what's better, what's different?

Damn, sounds like the '03.5 would have been real nice to have. I only have an '03, so it doesnt come with the subwoofer or the side air bags. I don't even think it has ABS.

    Hollow Bang when closing door

So, a google search completely failed me as to what I can to fix this. My driver's side door now makes a hollow bang sound when closing the door for some reason. The only thing that was done to that side of the car recently was the side moldings being removed, but I'm not sure if that is exactly...

What is the longest road trip you've taken in your P5?

I've taken my car from Philadelphia, PA all the way down to Tucson, AZ. Overall, it is about 3000 miles each way and took us under three days. We didn't stop until we hit New Mexico due to weather concerns. The car performed great, but this was way back in '05 when it had probably around 45k...

    1.8L Coil conversion

You ever do this swap zhy? Seems rather straight forward and I'm eying it up as my car has 123k miles on the original coil packs and wires (I have, however, changed the spark plugs recently). From what I can tell, the parts come at a reasonable price now from rockauto. Just no clue on the...

    Strange sound at 3.5k RPM's

I'd be curious if there was a resolution to this as well. I also sometimes hear a pinging type sound while driving. When I get my car back from the insurance company, I plan on pulling the plugs and checking with a magnet. The only thing that worries me, if the VICS ends up being the cause, is...

    Single DIN pocket options?

Thanks for the fast info. I will probably go this route considering the price.

    Single DIN pocket options?

I recently bought a new head unit that happens to be single DIN instead of the factory double DIN. I was originally going to use the kit that crutchfield had sent me, but the thing just looks downright... ugly. I would love to have a pocket with a door as I play to store a few things in there on...

    Hellahorn vs Sickspeed horns?

Glad I found this thread in time. Just picked up a set of the sickspeed from the ebay auction for 35 bucks shipped. Can't wait to get this swapped out. I really can't stand the stock horn in this car and I'm really surprised it took me this long to replace it.

I replaced my End Links With MOOG .

Definitely looking to try these out. I have quite a bit of noise from the front end when going over speed bumps that maybe this will help to fix.

Theres a snake in my engine bay O.o

I was wondering the same thing as I somewhat recently installed an AEM intake. I had a feeling it was normal, but nice to see confirmation here.

2003 Protege5 back from the brink: budget rebirth.

Lover the idea of covering up the keyholes, though I really wouldn't want to stick the plastic piece in there for fear of breaking it off. I would go this route but maybe use 3M tape to fix it to the keyhole. Either way, nice find.

Goodbye chrome! The cheap alternative to new wheels...

I just may have to do this during the summer. I have the alloy wheels, not the chromed ones, but I can't imagine the process being any different. It's basically down to either doing them myself or trying to get them powder coated. The price difference is rather large...
