Took a trip to a conference this week and averaged 34mpg in my 2.0L automatic... 95% interstate. The sticker mpg indicates 31 mpg for highway. My average speed was between 60 and 65mph. I am pleasantly surprised given that this car "revs" so high.

Yes, I was referring to the automatic. I searched for a manual transmission, but they are hard to find. Either way, the automatic does rev way to high on the interstate.

This car "revs" way too high at highway speeds. This is without a doubt my biggest complaint about the Protege. Why this car was not geared differently or not given a 5th gear is beyond me.

Nice looking car. I just got an '02 2.) LX about 2 weeks ago and really enjoy the car. I don't know how many miles she has on the Protege, but be sure to read the maintenance schedule and properly service it.

According to the manual for my '02 2.0L, the timing belt is to be replaced at 105k under normal driving conditions. Is that 105k miles or km?
