    no more CX-5

I've been pounding around here in Colorado the last 2 days with all the snow we've gotten, without a care in the world. My CX-5 has AWD, and Snow tires. Oddly enough, I have 3 coworkers who all have AWD CX-5's, too, and not a single one of them came into the office yesterday or today. Wimps. BC.

    What did you just buy?

The Macan didn't exist when we bought the CX-5 back in 2013. We haven't even test driven a Macan to this day, but the CX-5 was something that jumped out and bit us at the Denver Auto show way back in time. Our CX-5 is the first time we've ever been attracted to an SUV in the first place. We...

    What did you just buy?

Base Cayman, but loaded with all the performance oriented goodies: PASM PTV 20" Carrera S wheels We added in a few comfort items like 14 way seats, upgraded CDR radio, and two tone leather, just to make it ours. The dealer was saying roughly July, since there's a big rush on Cayman GT4 orders...

    What did you just buy?

On Saturday, I just bought my next car: 2015 Porsche Cayman. Probably not what you were looking for, but I could always provide a review of the process of getting 3 dealers to provide competitive quotes on a custom built car, and the now underway order process. BC.

Cold Weather: All Terrain vs Snow Tires [Advocacy]

I agree, Maxwax. Snow tires on the CX-5 is the easiest way to turn a sketchy winter drive into a nearly stress free event. The biggest problem is the fact that very few of the other motorists on the road with us are also sporting cold weather tires. You see them struggling to take off from a...

Vibration while turning right and applying power

I hate to ask, but have you guys who are experiencing this issue tried turning off the traction control system, and then testing the car to see if it still makes the same vibration under those low speed sharp turn while accelerating issue? BC.

Front Strut Boots Torn - what to do?

Don't know where you say that I implied anything should be done for free, but yes, I would recommend that he ask them to put the car on the rack, install the alignment lasers onto the wheels, and take the measurements, for free, before the work is done. He's bought 4 different CX-5's from them...

Front Strut Boots Torn - what to do?

He had a problem with his dealer saying that they couldn't get a previous car back into spec before. If he has them take the measurements on the car before they do any work, they can then go about putting the car back to the same setting after the work is complete, instead of to some random...

Front Strut Boots Torn - what to do?

Bit of advise: Have the dealer put the car on the alignment rack BEFORE they replace the torn bits, and then when they put the car back together, demand that they adjust the car until the settings either match, or are nearly identical to the reading you had them take before the work was...

    Spark Plug

Using a 1/2" drive torque wrench to tighten an 8mm headed bolt to what amounts to well under 10 ft-lbs is not the right way to do things under the hood of a car. BC.

    Spark Plug

If you're going to work on a somewhat expensive vehicle, you should invest in the right tools before you start a job, instead of learning the hard way that the wrong tool can lead to broken parts. The ignition coils need a 1/4" drive torque wrench that reads in inch-lbs. The spark plugs need a...

    CX-5 fuel economy reading

Should be in your owners manual, if it's available as an option. BC.

    Anybody dyno the 2.5? Links?

That's odd because my AWD 2.5 gets the rated highway mileage at highway speed, takes off like a rocket when I floor the accelerator, and click through the detent button, and it does all this at 5k+ feet in altitude, where I have less oxygen in the air, and make less power than you do in your...

Added Katzkin to U.S Manual Sport

I installed Katskin's on my Touring 3 days after I bought the car. Coming up on a year now, and still love the leather. BC.

Brakes failed in the snow after hours of driving in storm -- not tires

Did you get out of your car and look to see how much snow/ice was built up behind the tires during your drive? I have noticed that my CX-5 builds up a lot of ice and snow between the tire and the wheel well, and it can make turning the tire difficult if enough has built up. A long drive during a...
