The car wont be damaged and typically its going to be a bad vac line so all you would do is replace the line. I dont have a map of vac line in your car but just be sure to look around and see where they are.
If your car is a mazdaspeed then make sure you spray around the intercooler end...
My money is on minor vac leak unrelated to the intake. Grab some brake cleaner and spray around the intake manifold and anywhere else you see vac lines. If your RPM's fluctuate while you are doing it then you found your leak.
