Below are some pics of my install of the power cable for my amp... I believe they are self explanatory.

why did u route it like that???

i would be afraid the door might strip the wire and short out!

there is a perfectly good hole where the wire harness enters the car, right next to the brake booster

i just wired my car today
in the firewall there's a white plug, removed it, drilled it, used a gasket to ensure no leaks, power wire goes in and just routes under the sider door panels

yours looks....... very difficult
but kudos!

haha.. I was trying to figure this out for over a month.. I couldn't find any of holes in the firewall.. near the brake etc that everyone was talking about.. and someone told me about this way.. wire is fine (I couldn't find any pics at all on it!).. so here are some haha

If its not that big of a PITA, I would run it through the firewall with the rest of the wires, like JCell said. Even easier with 8 gauge wire :)

ummm not for nothing you dont have to drill anything, all i did was take a long screwdriver, lined up the wire with the tip of the screwdriver, wrapped it with some electrical tape, and the pushed it through the firewall where the rest of the wires are, i have no leaks and no risk of the door stripping it (my $.02)

X2 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That what I did except I had some steel wire so I can snake the wire all the way through the bottom of the dash once through it. It was the quickest, easiest install I have ever done through the fire wall.

Whoa!....... A Month?

I hate to bash but I have worked in the install industry for 3 years and this is the sort of ghetto wiring we would always have to fix. There is a perfectly good hole in the engine bay. Please take the time to do it right the first time.

If your having trouble finding the wires that go through the firewall then I would suggest removing your intake tube, trust me when I say don't keep that power wire there

Wow.. thanks for totally ragging on my install.. A couple people were telling me this is how they got there's done, and it worked for me..

I wasn't looking at my car a month straight! haha.. I couldn't find ANY of the places that everyone was talking about..

perhaps pictures of the "better" way would have helped.. but no one wants to post those up. =)

bro, no lie... this is dangerous. that wire may strip as time passes and the door is opened and closed

please re-route it asap

i'll post a pic tonight when i get home

I was kinda iffy puting it there.. but people on here were telling me that's how they did there's, and a friend of mine had his gf's dad hook his up like that.. whom I thought knew a little..

just took a look at it.. no kinks, no color transfer from the wire or paint, no slicing etc.. and it's been in there since mid to late april..

I dont know man, to each his own, but I like a clean install free from sight and I can't imagine opening my door and see a huge blue wire staring at me. Just look for a big grommet on the drivers side, you can drill through but its easier just to pry it open and push the wire through. I have all of my gauges ran through and about to put a 4g wire through with no issues.
