forged pistons

ok now i am new to this 2.0 fs engine in my new ride.(becuase i used to be a honda b-series nutt)

I heard that we could use the pistons from a miata i dont know if it is true or not becuase it is a 1.8 and we have a 2.0 but if it is there are a lot of companys that make froged pistons for that motor and if we can use them we could lower the compression and have stronger pistons if it is true i would like to know or i guess i can go to mazda and compare the part numbers... if not does any one know what rod and piston combo the jic magic protege is using...... i have pics of the jic protege i can email them to who ever wants them or how do i post them in this mesaage.........

The bp series engines(miata) do not interchange with our fs series motors......so no rod and piston swaps. Ifyou wanna go forged you can call the likes of crower orr eagle to make you a set. As far as I know there are non availble yet. We do share the same engine with the 2.0liter probe and I know bryan over at probetalk has some forged internals.
Good luck!
When you plan on getting forced fed?

For a set of JE Pistons you can reference my Purchase Order: Order No. 241567. I recommend talking with Stacy (a guy).

For Crower Rods you can reference my Work Order No. E34472. Part No. B93970B

These were for my 96 2.0L FS Ford Probe. The only dimensional change that was made, was I had the wrist pin diameter increased from 19mm to 20mm (I believe those are the numbers, or maybe it was 21mm)

Personally, I never quit understood why people try an piece together parts from all differnent make and models, modify them to make them fit. You usually end up eating any potential saving with the modifications to parts that are necessary to make it work. And in the end you are not much better than stock. Just sounds crazy to me.

Stacy is one of 3 import tech/sales support at JE Pistons. These pistons are for 9:1 compression, stock on 96 FS 2.0L.

I just recently set up an account with JE, so i can now buy JE pistons at jobber prices. I unfortunately do not know what that price is, as I am currently waiting on cylinder head chamber volumes, so I can order my next set of pistons. But, assuming that the FS head and bottom end geometry did not change at all, I should have enough information in a month or two, to be able to order Pistons of any spec, CR, etc for the FS motor.

As for the cost of my original rods and pistons, I don't know the exact numbers, as it was totaled with some other engine work, and balancing. Rods were around $600 and piston were $400.

Thanks for the info Bryan and I love the avatar. I think i'm going to try to piece a stroker kit together with some specs i have since i get all my machine work for free!!!!:D the 7MGTE pistons, Escort rods, and a knife edge on teh crank good for 400 hp

Ok guys,

Here is my delima. I have the money to buy a BEGI kit now, but I think I may have some minor engine problems that could turn major if I slap on the turbo. I think that one of my wrist pins are loose, or something like that. When driving, or reving close to 3000 RPM, I get engine clatter. It would cost be about $350-$450 in labor to get that fixed. Since they are gonna have the block open, I may as well upgrade my internals. I know that BryanPendelton has had forged pistons (9.1:1 compression) made for is probe. Bryan, feel free to chime in!
