Does the auto transmission come with overdrive?

:
2013 CX-5 Sport AT FWD
The specs page at Mazdausa.com describes the manual tranny as a "SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed overdrive" whereas the AT description reads "SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed Sport with manual-shift mode"

I assume that includes an OD gear but I couldn't find anything definitive. Just wondering.

I don't know offhand what the ratios are, but you can't come close to the kind of MPG Mazda gets out of this drive train with a direct drive 6th gear. In all likelihood, 5th and 6th (and possibly 4th!) are overdrive ratios.

Without being an engineer the way I look at it is that any gear with less than a 1:1 ratio is kind of an over-drive.
4th gear is 1:1 in the auto (and closest match for the manual as well @ 1.029:1)
5th gear is 0.708:1 (manual = 0.837:1)
6th gear is 0.599:1 (manual = 0.680:1)

The figures for the manual are slightly different but you get the general idea: 5th is good economy and 6th is the real "overdrive".

Good info, yes that's a useful way to identify overdrive ratios.
