extra keys

hi, just picked up an 09' gt with nav.
I asked the dealer for two extra keys, the dealer said that the only extra keys available are fobs with remote at $250 each.
so I called mazda's 800 # and to my disbelief got the same response.

Does anyone know if a regular key will fit, start the car and unlock the driver's door? If so what key blank is used?
I'd like to get two extra keys.

If I recall correctly, you can only program 3 keys total to work at any one time.

The only thing I could think of to do would be to follow the instructions for the OE Mazda Remote start accessory. Which means you would have to attach one of the programmed transponder chip keys near the ignition switch, or under the dash close enough to the ignition switch to fool the system into thinking the correct key is in the ignition.
