Any real pics of the Cargo Cover or rear floor mat ideas?

im interested in the rear cargo cover but i cant find any good pics... im wondering how or if it covers behind the 2nd row. i understand in "rolls" up like my subaru cover but what about the front? anybody have any good pics?

also, any ideas for a plastic/all weather runner mat between the 2nd row seats?

thanks in advance!

I'll probably pick up a set this week, I'll see if I can post pics. The alternative I found was a rectangular minivan (huh) mat that I found at Canadian Tire (not sure if you're in Canada or not) for 20$. The set is 72$ here, including 2 fronts and a rear mat, sounds reasonnable.

I have the rear "roller-blind" cargo cover. I don't have any pictures of mine but googled the following, which seems to be the same:

cargo_cover.jpg

Installation and removal is easy -- it's compression-fit into notches on either side, just behind the 2nd row seats. The vinyl blind is fine, and hooks into J-grooves on either side close to the hatch. The quality seems good and it suits the car well.

Two minor quibbles.

First, because the 2nd row seats slide for-and-aft there's a gap between the seatbacks and the blind. The blind has what I'll call articulated "shutters" that unfold and snap onto the headrest supports on the 2nd row seats, but to me they look chintzy. Second, I haven't yet figured out how to store it when I have people in the 3rd row. The instructions said that it will store under the front edge of the 2nd row seats but I don't see how it will fit. I have to admit I haven't been faced with really trying to get it in there yet, but I'm worried that the instructions may have been talking about the Euro or Japanese models that have different seat layouts.

Neither of these would prevent me from getting the cover though -- it performs well and makes the car look a lot tidier. I like having any trunk junk out of sight.

Sorry for the delay. I've got the all-weather mats in the car now. They fit really well. The second row seciton is modeled exactly after the carpet one. I have pics and will try to post them Sunday. They work really well, I'm impressed with the fit. They're also pretty thick.

Yea, I just got mine today. I went ahead and ordered them and the roof rack. They are really thick, haha. Kinda cheapish, but oh well better then the fabric ones during the rainy season in Florida.

A bit late, but here's the pics. Got under car seat pads as well as back seat protectors, very useful.

Hey Matt5,

Go get some 3" high density foam padding and put it between your carseat and your seat. You can put your knee into the seat to make it nice and tight, and when you take the carseat out, there aren't huge indentions in the seat.

I did this when my boys were little and were in carseats. When I took the seat out to sell the car, you couldn't tell a carseat had ever been in it.

Hey Matt5

Where did you get the floor mats? Is this what you got from Canadian Tire?

I just installed the reag cargo cover a couple days ago and I'm satisfied with it...

There are two notches to put it into...The first notch allows you to utilize the collapsing flaps that attach to the second row headrest mounts, while the second one puts the the rail about two inches from the second row seatbacks...I personally like the look of the rail being closer to the seats...I wonder why Mazda designed the cargo cover the way they did and included two settings for the install on the car...Those flaps aren't really necessary in my opinion...I mean, if you move the second row seats foward from their furthest back position you might be able to use them, but once you do that you won't really be able to provide much legroom for your passengers...On the other hand, if you have to use the 3rd seat, the cargo cover must be removed because they conflict with each other...Also, the clips used to attach the flaps to the headrest mounts also come off very easily if the headrests are raised from the seatback at all...

I'd still recommend getting the cover thought because the materials are quality, it seems fairly durable, and lord knows you'll want it to hide your groceries, Christmas presents, luggage etc. if you don't end up tinting your windows...Besides, the flaps have velcro strips on them and can fold away under the cargo cover so you never even have to see them...As far as the storage of it goes, you can easily fit it in between the second and third row seats on the floor and keep it out of sight :D

Let me know if you'd like to see some pics of mine...It's easily installed and removed and I can set it up in various positions to give you a idea of what it looks like so you can get a better idea about picking one up for yourself :D

This is the cover installed as I normally have it...In the second notch with flaps folded underneath it and out of the way...Notice its a much cleaner look...

An interior view of the cover...in the second notch it sits reallt close to the seatbacks...My seats in the second row are in the farthest back position...

Flaps are tucked underneat the cover rail and attached with the velcro strips...

View of the flaps not attached to the velcro...In this position it also helps to cover up the gap between the 2nd row seatbacks and hide large cargo from being seen through untinted windows...

View of the flaps attached to the headrest mounts...Notice that in the second notch the 2nd row seats can't hold passengers...

Cover installed into the first notch with large gap between the rail and seatbacks...

Cover in first notch with flaps attached to headrest mounts...Not the best way to have it installed in my honest opnion...You can see how much the flaps really don't belong on it...

Rear view of the cover in first notch with flaps attached to the headrest mounts...

Cover retracted in first notch...Sad that even in this position you still don't have enough room to use the 3rd bench seat...

Hope you liked the pics!!!

great pictures. your right, it does look the best in the 2nd spot with the seats all the way back. now all i have to do is convince my wife that it looks better with the seats down... :) thanks again for taking the time to do that!

one thing i like about me subaru is that it has a place to hold the retractable cover in the spare tire tray. i wish mazda would have thought about something like that...

A rolled up towel is cheaper, quicker and easier :)

7red7- Thanks for the pics! I had no idea the strap was for the back of the headrest. I just let that flap hang, I'll have to go outside and play with that section now :)

My pleasure posying the pics Hall...I'm glad I could be of assistance...Make sure to tell your wife that the cover looks really cool once installed and she'll never need the 3rd seat anyway ;) *LOL*

Have fun playing with those straps Kid!!! I honestly think that Mazda did a strange design when they did this cover...With those flaps are attached to the headrest mounts it appears that the rail has a cover coming out of both sides...I'm wondering if this is becoming a new trend in these covers though because my brother's Scion tC has the same design on his...

Hi Dan. I was looking forward to viewing your pics...but the web-address is no longer available. Could you repost? I'm trying to see how the cover works and looks. Thanks...Pete
