Yeah I saw that. Really has nothing to do with OTC products though, nor by hand. It has everything to do with an inexperienced person that wanted bird crap off and started grabbing heavy stuff and scrubed the crap out of it. Pure user error. Good example of what not to do. If it ain't budging don't keep going.

well the poster said that he was sure that the owner of the car had used TW compound, scratch X, cleaner wax, by hand...

my point was that these products used incorrectly can do some damage.

absolutely, as can any product, OTC or pro grade. Thats the problem most people get themselves into. They go to the store and read what a product is capable of doing, so they buy it and start rubbing without realizing what could happen if done wrong.
