Just wanted to know whats that biggest spacer i can run with the stock (2008 mazdaspeed3) wheel studs. I just picked up a set of speed6 wheels just wanted to bing them out a bit from stock offset i heard its an 8mm spacer but wasnt 100% sure.

8mm would be cutting it close really not safe at all lug nut will go on but only like three-four thread's..I would say 5mm spacer would be biggest with the stock stud's

awesome thanks for the input, ill run the 5mm ones then its only until my good wheels show up anyways..........thanks again

I hear you on the threads, but as far as theory...

Just wondering if I have my math correct here. The stock offset of the MS3 is +52.5, so adding an 8mm spacer would make the effective offset +44.5 (52.5 - 8). The offset of the MS6 wheels is +55, so adding the 8mm spacer would make that +47. I don't think either of these fitments is particularly aggressive, especially when used with stock 215 section tires. I think there are plenty of people on here that run +48 and under.

And then...

I run RX8 wheels which are 8" wide and +50 offset. 8" is 203.2mm. Half of that is 101.6. Subtract the offset of +50 and you have 51.6mm. This is the distance from the hub's mounting surface to the outer part of the wheel. The same math for the stock MS3 wheel gets us 36.4mm from hub face. (7"x25.4mm/inch = 177.8mm, 177.8/2 = 88.9mm, 88.9-52.5=36.4) If you subtract 36.4 from 51.6, you get 15.2mm. This is the size spacer it take to push the stock MS3 wheel out as the RX8s. For the MS6 wheels, that spacer would be 17.7mm (55-52.5=2.5, 2.5+15.2=17.7).

That said, with 235/40 tires, I would rub very rarely on the stock suspension. With coilovers and lowered, I have yet to touch. I think that people that run 225 and the RX8's have not had any problem with rubbing.

So, if my maff is correct, and god and hub studs willing, that 8mm spacer should work fine.

i've been running 6mm spacers all around for the last year with no problems. i honestly wouldn't go any bigger with the stock studs...
