Tandem ECUs possible? Any standalones have transmission controller? Protege5

I have a 2003 with the automatic that I want to turbo. I was wondering if it would be possible to have my stock ecu only there to take inputs and control the transmission while a stock mazdaspeed ECU controls everything else. I figure it would be more cost effective than a standalone. Speaking of which; is there a standalone aftermarket ecu that has a transmission controller in it?

i’m going to be trying this with a standalone ecu to control my engine and the Protege5 ecu controlling transmission. they would share lots of sensors
