spewing oil!!!!

So this morning about 100 yards from work felt a sudden drop in power and then a pop and no power. engine recovered a bit. Drove little bit to park it safely. engine smoked from oil being leaked out. This part was where it seemed to have the issue followed by a path of oil!!!!

Any ideas on what it could be???

Do you have a picture of where the part came from, such as under the vehicle?

no I didn't crawl under it. just had it towed and crossing fingers!

Looks like part of the block. I imagine you lost a rod which in turn tried to eject itself out the side of the block. No bueno. Keep us posted, but I'd say you're looking at a new engine.

Ufda!! That's pretty impressive and scary, were you able to get pics of the devastation??

After reading this forum, I am SO glad I didn't get the AWD model.

Better than the engine at least. I had a Honda Prelude that grenaded the pinion gear, which shot out of the transmission. Looked similar.

Wow. I second 911jason, i sought out fwd only to avoid awd problems. Too bad they use that crappy xfer case from the ford edge.
