Question about auto dimming mirror

I did a quick search and didn't see any threads specific to the P5

I'm planning to install a roof rack, which necessitates removing all the interior pieces to get at the headliner. Sounds like a great time to also install the auto dimming / thermo / navi rear view mirror.

Anyone know about this process? Is it simple plug'n'play or more complex than that?

Is this the correct one?

Thanks in advance :)

Hey Kerstan ~ this is not the same auto-dimming mirror that you saw in my car..... here's a link I found by googling the part number:

http://www.mazdastuff.com/product.cfm?ProductID=1079

The part number in the accessories catatlog I got when we bought the car is 0000-8C-A07B (I finally found it). I actually have two of the catalogs - if you want one, let me know.

PS - The part number for the cargo tray is 0000-8B-J02

Good Luck.

I installed the factory auto dimming/compass mirror like in the 2nd link above from mazdastuff dot com. Did not have to drop headliner, just the visors and clips & pillar cover. Was really straight forward instructions. Temp sensor clips to front radiator mounting structure at the bottom just toward the center of the car from the drvr side foglight. The wiring was easy to hook up. There is pretty much just ground & switched positive, then calibrate compass by driving in a circle in a parking lot, IIRC. Very happy with mine, got it NIB off ebay for 143 shipped. Was in oem box complete with instructions.

I'm going to bump this up. I have one of these mirrors, but it did not come with a base. I've tried installing it on the Proteg but it simply doesn't hold up.
Can the base be bought separately? If so, does anyone know the part number? Been looking around and can't find anything yet...
