question about '06 & '07 cold pipe options

Does anybody know why Mazda changed the cold pipe between '06 and '07?
If there are any known advantages then I was thinking about picking up an '07 cold pipe and boost tubes whenever I order a new TMIC.
Better yet, does anybody make a bolt-on TMIC that doesn't use the stock cold pipe? A nice polished pipe with a BPV flange and silicone tubes sounds like a better and prettier option. Would the bend be too severe?

It may have been just a matter of fitment in the other platforms Mazda was going to use it in for the 2007 model year (i.e. the MS3 and CX-7). Or, very possibly, it could have been a matter of efficiency. I'm not sure which it was, but those are my two guesses.

My guess would be fitment issues. They changed the angle a little bit. I highly doubt that could lead to efficiency alterations. But what do i know :).

i always thought, it was to better fit the tight confines of the mazda 3 engine bay and allow uniform production for all turbo models.
instead of having a cold pipe for the 6 and 7, and one for the 3. they just redesigned it to fit all.
