Hi all. I have tried doing my own research and seem to get bogged down on the Bose/NonBose discussion so I am now going to leave it to you the experts to tell me where to go. What I am looking to do at the end of the day is replace by OEM radio with an Android interfaced 2-DIN unit. Below is what I have and am looking for. ANY HELP whatsoever in choosing the right unit and the right place to buy is GREATLY appreciated. I am familiar with installing and wiring but this topic is just getting me frazzled.

Thanks again for your help.

- Paul

What I have:
- 2010 CX-9
- Bose Non navi radio with small non touch screen
- Steering wheel controls
- Backup camera view in reverse.

What I am looking for:
- A 7" (6.2 optional) headunit that has:
- The latest Android 4.x running,
- Builtin WiFi (to connect to my hotspot)
- Bluetooth with latest technology (A2DP or whatever its called)
- Ability to work with the OEM backup camera (or come with its own)
- Ability to work with the existing steering wheel controls
- Ability to add rear seat video unit day 2
- **Optional** Work with existing Sirius Satellite Radio that is built into the existing radio (I haven't seen an Android radio at all anywhere that works with SAT radio's).
- Full understanding of what would be needed (dash bezel kit, wiring harness, camera, etc. )
- Where to purchase everything.

I installed a chinese winCe unit, it comes with almost everything or is already prewired for it, except for satellite radio, which honestly I don't care for so I never looked into whether this unit supports it or not. The backup camera was $28 and its a wireless module so installation was pretty simple, except for tracking down the reverse signal in the BCM, my unit has a rca connector for the camera itself so if stock is the same should be pretty easy, otherwise, you would have to splice it in. Tech support for any of the chinese units, wince or android, is just non-existent and even if they try to help resolve any issues the language barrier is just terrible, I would suggest ebay for everything since most sellers will feel obligated to assist you as much as possible or risk getting negative feedback. Good luck!

When you say plug and play. Do you mean no adapters required and also does that mean clock and steering wheel controls remain functional without special adapters?

Yes no adapters or wiring required. Steering controls work 99% the same, the clock cannot be adjusted anymore.

phubar,
just wanted to check with you, do you have the Bose system? If so, was there any issues getting this unit to work with the Bose system? Thanks in advance.

Sorry didnt see this reply until now. Negative no bose system here, sorry I dont have any answers for you in that regard.

Just saw this as it got pulled up to the top. One thing you can try doing @pjsisk01 (o.p.) is to get in contact with Crutchfield. They are an awesome company based in Virginia that has helped me a lot in the past with car audio troubles. You could try getting in contact with a customer service specialist on their website, email them your list like you did above, and see what happens. They are usually pretty great about warning you what will and won't work with a system. In addition, they have U.S. based phone support and are an authorized re-seller for the brands they sell (Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, etc.)
Honestly, I wouldn't trust a Chinese knockoff for the head-unit. Usually the interfaces are crap and the amps are shoddy at best.

Something to get you started:

This one sounds like it hits most of your list:
Kenwood DNN770H: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DNN770H/Kenwood-DNN770HD.html?tp=5684

I think your list is pretty long and detailed, so some things might have to give. Steering wheel controls are almost always an adapter to each specific vehicle/brand, and wiring is required to go from the Mazda harness to the new receiver (wiring kits are included with Crutchfield. In fact, they include everything you need to get the job done.)

As for using the built in sensors for XM, GPS, etc., AFAIK this is a no-go. The sensors are usually tied down to some proprietary wiring, so aftermarket receivers just give you new sensors that you have to run. I could be wrong on this, but it's my experience.

I don't work for these guys, just had really good experiences in the past. They have put my mind at ease when I have electrical gremlins not turning on the built in Bose Amp in my old 6, giving me a good solution with multiple fix options. Hope this helps!
