Oil Leak Problem on Protege 2000 1.6l

Hi everyone !

My first post on the forum is because of a problem I have with my Protege 1.6l 2000.

I'm leaking oil under my Car and its coming from my oil pan, I'm pretty sure it might be the gasket that is leaking although I might be wrong from lack of knowledge. Also its leaking from, what I think might be a sensor right above my oil filter. Here are a couple of Pictures.










I have in mind that I might have to replace the oil pan / gaskets to fix the problem , and im allright with that. I would like to have some imput and tips on the whole situation ! I want to make sure It is actually the gasket before getting into this job !

on my 00 protege se, (canada), my oil sending unit was leaking, then my rear main seal. swapped both of them out for new ones and have never had a problem since. id check out both of these. aswell as how does the oil smell? if its gassy then its more than likely the oil sending unit, or oil pan from your picures. if it smells like tranny fluid then its the rear main seal.

Rear main seals leak engine oil; did you mean trans input shaft seal?
