NEW MEMBER 2003 P5 hesitation prob from 2K to 3k rpm

I just bought a 2003 P5 all was fine untill i drove the car with a few other people in the car, now when i take off from a stand still the car starts to take off then falls on its face from 2k up to 3k then it seems to take off just fine, i also have noticed that the manual selection on my gearshift does not work exactly right, seems to shift up fine but when i go to shift down it will not shift unless i come to a stop. i looked in the manual and it says that if im at too high of a speed that the indicator on my dash should blink twice if the gear cannot be changed, i love this car its the third mazda ive had just has a few issues if anyone could give me any info on this i would greatly appriciate it

when i try to shift down on the tranny the dash does not blink twice to let me know that im at too high of speed just does not shift down at all till at a stand still
