NEMOC Random BS Thread

Suspension is looking good Chris. I'm researching myself to see what set-up I want to go with. There's a new vendor on m.net that has a heckuva deal going right now that I might just have to jump on. Those Federals will be nice and meaty, what is the sidewall for each?

Bruce, what is your limit for time spent in the US? Time to make some friends at the border who will "roll back" that date stamp. lol

Which springs are you looking at?

Time limit is 6 months.

as an owner, yes...i like that guy his reviews while driving are always pretty good/honest...bruce couldn't even get in my car...not for the tall or big guys...

must be?????

where was this bruce? glad to hear the old girl is working well! how many miles now? i've developed a weeping front main seal...i'm going to watch and and repair over the winta...it's time for another timing belt anyway 120K

Calabogie ON. About an hour west from me. Awesome track, too many turns for me to remember. 147k on the odo, another 20,000 miles accumulated behind the rig.

Just ordered my tickets for Watkins Glen! Who else is going?

Which did your order?

Me, Bruce see you there !!

The Federals are 205/60R13 instead of 185/70R13. About 1/2" shorter in diameter. Trying to decide if I want to bother or just store these wheels and put some aftermarket wheels on that are 14 or 15.

Maybe you can find some OEM phone dials? Or maybe you can find some 14" BBS wheels from a Miata? I've always loved that look but personally would never want to maintain (clean) them.

I've been following the MeisterR thread over there. New to the US but have some very good reviews from across the pond. And at $995 shipped for coilovers it's kinda hard to beat for a dd. Prior to them being announced I was looking at the Tein Z-Flex or some combo of shocks and springs. FMs Tokico stage 1 package is $96 cheaper than the MeisterR and their Koni stage 1 package is $10 cheaper. To me the MeisterR coilovers seem like a nobrainer vs. the shock/spring combo. (dunno)

How does the 6 month time limit work? Does it reset at Jan 1 or is it a calendar year?

I'm hoping to make it up the Glen in addition to LRP. Looking into lodging and such now to see if the Glen will be one day or if I can stretch out the entire weekend.

Oh yeah for any other Miata fans, Blipshift just announced this today. I ordered mine earlier. :)

Bring a tent. It's a long drive and so worth being there for the duration. Lots to see. I just enjoy riding my bike around the park at dusk and chatting with random drunk people. Sadly I won't be able to bring the RX7 because it isn't exactly going to tow our camper :/

It's too much for me this year, sadly. It is 4th of July weekend and I already did Daytona this year. I think LRP is the only race on the rest of the schedule for me this year.

The good thing about that is I'll probably bring my daughter to the Conti race on Friday. I think she'll get a kick out of meeting some of the drivers on the pit walk.

Really bummed about the Indy Car race in Boston getting canned. I had tickets and hotel all lined up. Hoping they reschedule for a venue in New England somewhere.

Not familiar with MeisterR, are they adjustable for dampening? Probably non adjustable for that price.

Six months is a calendar year.

We are renting a whole floor for the Glen. Should be room eh Mark?

Finally got the Dunlops installed. The Bridgestones are toast, the tread is basically an implant. Changing the colour scheme down the road, gold wheels and removing some of the black. Need warmer weather though.

Started back at work last week. Seems to take longer each year to get back in the swing of things. Have no issues with sleeping at night though.

According to their specs 32 adjustments for damping. Also mentioned that they dont do rebuilds like others do. Pay 150 and get a new unit. Heres their initial post from m.net

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jerrick and I am from MeisterR.
MeisterR is a suspension specialist from the UK, and we just recently expanded to the USA.

We want to start off offering our new generation ZetaCRD and ZetaCRD+ Coilovers to the Miata community.
As we are starting new, we are going to do a blanket 20% discount on all coilovers with free delivery.

This brings the MSRP of $1250 down to $995 delivered.

We have two version available for the NA / NB / NC / ND:

MeisterR ZetaCRD / ZetaCRD+ Specification:
*Aluminium Front Top Mount with harden rubber bush (Spherical Bearing for ZetaCRD+)
*Extended Aluminium Rear Top Mount with harden rubber bush.
*Monotube damper with 32 stage damping adjustment (Compression and Rebound Combined)
*10% thicker damper rod diameter for increase strength (compare to previous generation)
*Linear Rate SAE9254 Chrome Silicon Steel Springs.
*Springs Coil Noise Insulator.
*Lengthen Heavy Duty Rubber boot.
*Unique UK Patent Pending Non-Slip Aluminium Spring Perch & Locking Collar.
*Dual Perch Coilovers Construction (Independent Springs Tension and Ride Height Setting)

ZetaCRD: Designed for fast road & track use, with focus on fast road use.
This is the most common setup for most UK owners, as this is design for road compound tyres and deal with uneven road surfaces comfortably.
Most regard this setup as compliant as OEM, but more responsive.

The springs rate:
NA/NB: Front: 6kg/mm, Rear: 5kg/mm
NC: Front: 7kg/mm, Rear: 5kg/mm
ND: Front: 8kg/mm, Rear: 3kg/mm

ZetaCRD+: Designed for fast road & track use, with focus on track use.
This setup for is for track enthusiast who use their car on track with semi-slicks tyres.
It is also what we offer as a control suspension on a few of the regulated championship in UK such as the Max5 and the 5Club Racing Championship.

The springs rate:
NA/NB: Front: 10kg/mm, Rear: 6kg/mm
NC: Front: 10kg/mm, Rear: 6kg/mm
ND: TBD

The ZetaCRD is our newest generation design incorporating our Close Ratio Damping technology.
The entire damping design are engineer in house in our UK workshop along with our technical partner Black Art Design.
This allow the dampers to provide responsive feedback on stiffer damping adjustments for track use, while providing great compliancy over uneven road surfaces on softer adjustment for daily usage.

Here is a damper dyno to show what the CRD looks like:

We are happy to be able to offer our newest suspension to the Miata community.
All coilovers are kept in stock in our USA workshop / warehouse, and will come with 1 year warranty serviced by us.

How to Order?
We are in the middle of building a brand new website, so stay tune for more info.
We have setup a temporary webshop to take all order online at:

http://www.meisterrcoilovers.com

If you have any questions or comment, please feel free to let me know.
I am always happy to answer any concerns.

Jerrick

It's 6 months total so @180 days. They keep track on both sides. We go from Oct to Apr. When we hit the border in Oct they can see how long I was in the US for the current year and then add Oct to the end of Dec. If that will put you over they won't let you in. I was 2 days over last year but they warned me and let me in anyway.

I sort of look at work as penance for taking 6 months off. The mill I work for is family run I they like me for some reason so I can get days off and beg off work in the mill if it looks to kill my back. And most of the time I'm driving and out of the mill so it's good relaxing work.

Let me know what you think of the suspension. Lack of a rebuild concerns me, even if they are giving you new units. Be curious to see how they stack up for DD and reliability. I already went down that raod with MS/Eibachs coilovers which were a disaster.

Price seems to good to be true.

I've already been chatting with Lauri about Bob, but due to family issues this summer he can't make it. So there's room for Jeffy!! C'mon Jeff make it this year.
