main gripe you MS6 owners have?

so whats the main gripe about the mazdaspeed 6 that you have?

for some of you early buyers its been almost half a year since its been out. whats the biggest thing u don't like about the car?

also how does the AWD do? is it noticeably different to driving a FWD car in terms of safety and handling?

only gripe i had was exhuast and the tires and some brake dust due to cheap pads but other than that its more than what i expected. love the awd handles geat did auto-x quite a few times got 1st my 1st time out and 3rd last time

I'd have to say my biggest gripe is the city MPG. I can't seem to get better than 15 in the city when I drive it like grandma. So I just stay in the boost all the time and get like 14mpg. But I do a lot of short city driving, startups, waiting in the drive thru at tim hortons. I figured if I stayed off the boost alot though it would get better MPG in the city.

Just for reference though my bad last car a 97 escort with a 1.8l I got like low 20's.....I guess that's the price you pay for double the hp......

only had mine for a month. my main gripe so far is not being able to repeat a whole cd. you can only repeat one song, and when a cd is over it skips to the next one. MPG could be a little better, but atleast its better then my old SUV.

as far as break dust. I hear a lot of people complain about it, but that is every car I have ever owned and all my friends, brake dust isn't anymore then other cars.

Gripes

Main gripe is the flash update that was performed as part of a recall. If you are considering buying one, make sure they let you test drive one with the flash already performed. There should be a sticker on the inside of the driver door stating it was performed. The Flash update totally reworked torque and boost. The car now has very little ability to accelerate at highway speeds even with a downshift. I have also experienced some jerky acceleration. Low speed/ lower RPM accleration is still very good.

As for your second question, the car handles very good. I dont drive it hard too often but I have noticed a huge difference in acceleration out of a corner, it holds the road far superior to a FWD. This car seriously sticks to the road like glue. I recently pulled an A$$ hole move trying to make a traffic light on to a main road. I was going way too fast and right where the two streets met there was a large dip in the road that I must have hit going 50 mph as I was starting a 90 degree turn. The wheels briefly left the ground in mid turn, I think it is safe to say some of the electronic nannies kicked to help out. All turned out well, in a lesser car I probably would have lost control.

Well so iIdon't know if my car had the flash done to it or not now. I literally had to MAKE THEM put the sticker on the car, saying the recall was done. I had't read up on it completely by the time I picked up my car I guess, and I thought it was necessary.

But I haven't experienced this lack of low end power because every time I drive it I'm very surprised at the low end especially in the higher gears. That must be where all my mpg's are going with the direct injection ;). I just can't help gvng it some gas to feel the tq. :)

I dont own one, but if i did, i would gripe about the factory wheels, they are hideous IMO. My buddy has one and i drive it several times a week because he uses my truck alot, i like the cars, tons of fun, roomy, and classy at the same time

I don't own one but I have heard a lot of local owners I know griping about the reflash that sucks power away from the car.

The only gripe I have is the brake dust. More than any car I have had, and I don't drive this car any harder than the others. I really like the stock rims, very classy, but very hard to clean. PICT0776.JPG

so what does the recall on the flash do?

if its a recall it must be a pretty serious issue.
and if it sucks out power that would suck big time.

Biggest Gripe: Reflash

Second Biggest Gripe: Not enough convenience/electronic content for a car of this price range. I knew this and I still bought it - therefore I cannot complain too loudly.

It depends on if you're talking about MSRP or discounted price ;) Because for the $21-25k range I think it's quite comparable in terms of convenience options. And it's a lot faster than most sedans in that range too!

The brake dust does suck! My 3 was bad too but it was in the rear.

As for the flash, I really dont see the loss that everyone talks about and I live in Cali where we can only get 91 at the pump. All i notice is that the it doesnt go into safe mode hardley at all. Just like its supposed to.

not in any order

1. Excessive brake dust
2. Gas Mileage is getting worse
3. Tires aren't lasting for s*** and I'm used to Z rated tires but these are really wearing fast
4. Stereo. No MP3 option. Bose sounds horrible compard to my stock MSP stereo.
5. Fake Exhaust makes no sense.
6. Wheels have grown on me but given the option I'd change them
7. Carpet floor mats are flimsy. GEt the all weather ones
8. STEREO, yes I already said this.
9. Clutch, although I'm used to it now, but it certainly could be better
10. Heavy steering feel. Ironically changing to my 17" winters cured this.
11. More consistent boost. Seems some days it is awesome and other days it's laggy.
12 Wheel gap.

Do not get me wrong, I LOVE this car. Best car I have ever owned. It's solid, I don't have a single rattle or squeak at 7000kms and after driving the MSP/MP3 for the last 6 years that is a beautiful thing in itself.

Would I buy the car again? Your ******* right I would :)

my biggest gripe is that I don't own one and I am want to trade my msp in for one since I am too tall for it.

My gripes would be:
1. Sirius Display could be better. I get random letters at the end of short Artist Names.
2. I wish the car was louder stock. I would like a bit more growl.
3. More HP/TQ.
My soultion to the last two are easy, but the first one bugs me...LOL

I have 3K on my car.

That "fake" exhaust is fully functional and makes complete logical sense....
