Clean it yourself using specific MAF cleaner, don't use anything else. Save time and money.

Thanks. Would someone let me know if worth cleaning to extend the life or they just die anyway?

I'm not quite sure how's it supposed to die thought, with some cleaning and efficient air filter. Sometimes deposits get caked onto the hot wire of the sensor, but cleaning takes care of that. There are no moving parts, and normally MAF sensors serve for the duration of the vehicle's life. They do go bad, but then cleaning wouldn't help that either.

If your not having MAF related driveability issues than leave it alone and forget about the service's departments attempt to upsell service. CRC makes a good MAF cleaner if you need one.

I would recommend cleaning every time the air filter is replaced. Wont take more than 10 mins, of which, 9 is waiting for it to dry. There is a noticeable difference especially when idling.
