Installing 2007 Stereo/HVAC Control in 2005 Mazda6

I just picked up a 2005 Mazda6 Wagon today, and I really dislike the center stereo setup...I much prefer the one on the 2007's (maybe also in '06 and '08', not sure, haven't seen those years).

My question is, could the entire part be swapped out? Has anybody done this? Does it require any major modifications?

Go aftermaket, it's cheaper, and sounds better.
