All,

Just a heads up to all you imagestation users. I went to use my imagestation account this morning and got the following message. Imagestation is on a rampage and is apparently deactivating accounts. Complaints are all over the web.

Your ImageStation account has been deactivated. This is most typically because there is unacceptable content in your account or you have created links on other websites that directly connect to files stored in your account. Because of your failure to maintain your account according to the membership agreement we have deactivated your account.

If you have received an email notification about your account status, you will need to reactivate your account using the activation code included in the email. You will then be responsible for removing content that is in violation of our membership agreement.

If you have not received an email notification about your account status, contact us isuppor2@imagestation.com for more information.

Please re-read this excerpt from our Membership Agreement:

9. Code of Conduct
ImageStation provides Members with storage space on the Site as a service to Members. ImageStation encourages the free exchange of ideas, but has established the following parameters for any Member Content. When using any area of the Site you agree not to post, send, transmit, upload, or otherwise publish any data, text, image, video, music, sound, audio file, text, or other content or material that:

(I) Contains or displays any expression of bigotry, racism, or hatred, or is ethnically offensive, objectionable or inappropriate;
(ii) Is or might be perceived by ImageStation or ImageStation members or users, as defamatory, libelous, disparaging, obscene, pornographic, profane, threatening, abusive, deceptive, offensive, vulgar, ethnically offensive, objectionable or inappropriate, including nudity, adult content, illegal content, content of a sexual nature, and unacceptable language;
(iii) Is inconsistent with the values or the spirit of the ImageStation Community, as determined by ImageStation in its sole discretion;

It is your responsibility to identify and remove content that does not conform to the Membership Agreement, we will not be providing you specific albums or image names - if there is any doubt about any of the images, remove them.

The irony of the last paragraph is that they won't allow you to delete any "offending" material. What a bunch of boners! The Customer Service people are outsourced (located in India), so the help sucks. They're full of canned responses and cannot give any information whatsoever about what specifically was offensive or why the account was deactivated. So I write:

Imagestation Staff,

I think it's reprehensible for you to deactivate my account WITHOUT NOTIFICATION! I've been using the Imagestation service for a few years now and have been giving thought to upgrading as prompted when I visit the site. Your action has made me seriously reconsider doing so.

I use Imagestation to upload pictures of cars, childrens birthdays, vacations, trips I take, and shows that I attend. Very, very tame pictures for certain. The only gallery that someone could remotely be offended by would be the photos posted of a bikini contest that happened at a recent car show I attended. This would surprise me.

I simply documented an event of clothed adults (no nudity), participating in an event of their own free will, in a public place. I never thought that deactivation of my account would result. I disagree with the fact these photos fit any of the catagories outlined in the Code of Conduct. However, I do value your service and will be more than happy to remove that content if that is what is required for me to continue use of your service.

The irony of the following statement is that you are not affording me the opportunity to take any action to remove the content. As soon as you provide me the ability to remove the content, consider it done.

"It is your responsibility to identify and remove content that does not conform to the Membership Agreement, we will not be providing you specific albums or image names - if there is any doubt about any of the images, remove them."

In the future, I would expect some warning (how about an email?) giving me notice that the photo nazis find a gallery (or photos in a gallery) to be potentially offensive. I think you'll find this approach works better with your customers.

Please respond ASAP as I need to have access to my other galleries.

Respectfully,

Me

Is anyone else having the same issue on this board?

Yeah I don't bother with imagestation anymore. Especially now that I own & maintain a website whose hosting plan has 800mb of disk space ;)

I got something like that from them about a year ago now. I lost a couple years worth of photos. I emailed them a few times and they didn't do anything about it. I don't use them anymore

these little fuckers, the only pictures i have uploaded are of my car (NOT EVEN GIRLS WITH CARS) and pictures of my computer, network and a picture of downtown calgary, so **** YOU IMAGE STATION.......ASSHOLES
