So, I have read through a lot of the threads and could not find the exact info I need.

I just ordered some used Polk DXI650's(6.5" speakers) for the front and back for 75 total.

I guess I need a bracket to mount these to.
According to Crutchfield I need something like this?

Edit: Url just goes to the speakers, Crutchfield says I need these.

I got the door tool from amazon for 5 bucks.

Now what about a speaker adapter. Do I need something like this?

I could not figure that out from researching. I emailed Metra asking for what I might need. I don't know if they will reply.

So, I have a 2013 Sport with the Touchscreen w/o NAV.
I also couldn't figure out what was up with the front speakers. I guess I have none from my understanding. Are there speaker inputs for them under the dash grills? If I hooked up speakers would they already be connected to this Head Unit?

I've Installed lot's of stereos, amps and speakers in my younger days, but I'm old now and don't want to have to mess around with it too much, so I want to get all my information straight.

Thanks so much,
Buz

To be more clear, cut out the old speaker from the bracket and solder the new speaker leads directly to the connector on the speaker bracket.

The speaker is glued onto the stock bracket. Using a knife you can easily cut the paper speaker out of the stock bracket to reuse it for your after market speakers.

The sport model CX5 does not have dash mounted front speakers but the wires are there and they are "hot" from the factory head unit.

Thanks y'all. So if I decide to get dash speakers what size and is it as easy as the doors? How about the center speaker is it hot

Thx

Also I still have my factory speakers from my 03 mazda6. Does one just this the factory speakers away?

You need 3.5 inch speakers or tweeters for the dash. Pretty easy to install if you have the right sized speaker. There is no wiring for center speaker in this model.

Check my sig. I have the sport and was one of the first on here to swap the speakers. I chose the polk db series. The 3.5" ones fit perfect in the dash.
