Gas Tank Question.

Hey guys, I am at work and have a question. There is someone who has a Mazda3 2006 and it has had sugar poured into the gas tank which sucks. But there is no sign of forced entry and the locking gas cap cover still works fine and clicks in and unlocks from the lever inside the driver's seat. My question is, do you guys think it is possible for someone to open the locked gas tank cover from the outside without braking it or showing any signs of forced entry? Thanks guys. Anything can help.

First off, how do you know sugar was poured in the tank? Second, even though that's a dirty thing to do, MythBusters proved it's no big deal.
