Fiberglass gel coating?

I'm currently working on my bumper and reglassing the broken areas and stuff. Do I need the gel coating for paint? Or after im done glassing n stuff just sand it and paint?
 
You dont need a gel coat but you will need to prep ,orime and prep again before paint.

So to answer your question...No Gel coat needed.

I think he meant 'Prime".

Gelcoat works as a primer...

YES...the "O" is next to the "P"...And I suck at typing..Prep by making smooth...then prime...and yes you have to prep the primer by sanding it smooth as well...from there your body guy should take over and seal the part before painting it.
 
all you should have to do is sand it smooth like they said and primer it then wet sand it and make sure everything is all good then paint
 
dont use gel coat unless you have before. I work with a lot of racing boats, and I have seen more messed up gelcoat then anything else... also gelocat is a hard finish, so if the bumper ever flexes it will crack...
