[Here's the monthly sales report I've been doing, it just adds the historical monthly sales from 2007 to 2010]

North America Mazda released their February 2010 US sales data.

In February 2010 1,975 Mazda5s were sold, down 12.5% from February 2009.

For comparison 8,215 Mazda3s were sold in February.

Here's the data I have gathered from 2007 to the present.

The March incentives for the US market are pretty good, I think that sales will pickup especially since people are avoiding Toyota.

The current promotion, through March 31, 2010, is as follows:

0.0% APR for up to 36 MONTHS PLUS $500 Customer Cash PLUS 0 monthly payments for 90 days

36 MONTHS PARTICIPATING LENDER FINANCING AT $27.78 PER MONTH PER $1,000 FINANCED. 0.0% APR ONLY FOR WELL QUALIFIED BUYERS. NOT ALL BUYERS WILL QUALIFY. AMOUNT OF DOWNPAYMENT AND OTHER FACTORS MAY AFFECT QUALIFICATION. Applicable customer cash to qualified buyers when financed through participating lender. Payment deferral not available in PA or where prohibited by law. Loan origination fees may apply. Take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 3/31/10. See dealer for complete details.

That being said, Mazda only managed a 4% increase over last year, at at time when Toyota had it's dealerships closed? This list shows the change in number of vehicles sold from February 2010 compared to February 2009:

Ford: +43%
Nissan: +29%
Honda: +13%
GM: +11.5%
Mazda: +4%
Chrysler: +0.5%
Toyota: -9%

In Canada, Mazda's incentive for March is 0%-60 months on Mazda 3 and 6 and 0%-48 months on all the other Mazdas. It seems that Mazda is offering 0% all the time though.

The execution of Mazda USA has been less than stellar the past 2 years . If you look at Kia, Hyundai and also Subaru Feb sales, Mazda is downright ugly.

They made a huge mistake with the 6 and poured millions of marketing dollars into that vehicle and sales have tanked. On the other hand, the ONE Mazda vehicle that makes it onto the Consumer Reports 2010 Best Cars list is virtually unknown because they never marketed it...

If there isn't any improvement soon (esp with Toyota in dumps) there needs to be some changes in Mazda USA management.
