All I did was put a $1 cap on the exhaust manifold and left everything else alone. Haven't had any CELs and it runs fine.

to each their own. If people do that I at lest hope they filter the egr tube so it doesn't collect or suck up unwanted material which can potentially damage the engine.

All i can say about this kit is; the block off nut in the kit has the correct internal shape. The plug is pressed-in and then welded. All this is done to ensure a reliable long lasting seal.
