Dead battery.. shift to neutral?

Just curious, but is there a way to shift the CX9 into neutral if the car battery is dead? This happened to my other car (not a mazda) last week and never thought about how to get the car into neutral if the battery is dead. Thank god the tow truck driver knew how to pry a little plastic peice off of the shifter and he was able to release a lock and put the car into neutral. But I dont see anything similar to my CX9
