P0171, from research is usually the wastegate actuator and/or the first primary o2 sensor and/or some type of vacuum or exhaust leak?

Wastegate is fairly new so i will try to clean my relocated MAF. I don't think it's a bad 1st o2 sensor and there is no vacuum leak (that I'm aware of)

I'll let everyone know if cleaning the MAF works out...

Also sometimes the first one is followed by:
P0660 is the intake manifold electrical solenoid for VICS?

I need a new one? Or is there anything I can do? I tried cleaning the connections a bit... Otherwise I will post a WTB!!! They're $$$ from Mazda

Any tips / how to help greatly appreciated!!!

Did you ever clean your MAF?

I also have 0171 and 0660. Figured out that my VICS solenoid was bad. The VICS actuator arm is supposed to be pulled in when the car is idling and it extends when the engine reaches 5250 RPM (and briefly after starting the engine). Test the solenoid (the white terminal one) by pulling off both vacuum hoses but leaving the solenoid plugged in to the white terminal. With the key out of the ignition you should not be able to blow air through the horizontal port on the solenoid. With the key turned to the second click, power will be sent to the solenoid and the port should open up. This allows vacuum to get to the actuator arm so that it is pulled in. New solenoid is almost $100 but can find used on ebay for $30. If solenoid is good, then either the actuator arm is bad or the VICS check valve (green thing under intake manifold) is bad. If you hear a hissing noise when you pull the horizontal hose off, the check valve should be good. Test the arm itself by pulling off the vertical hose and connecting a vacuum pump to it. At -10 hg the arm should be pulled in the whole way. i forgot..before buying a new solenoid, make sure that power is getting to the solenoid from the terminal. can plug in the adjacent VTCS solenoid or run a light bulb tester thing between ground and terminal.

failing WGA was causing 0171 and unsteady idle.
