I lost the primary keyless entry transmitter for my 2002 Protege5 (that I programmed myself using the instrutions here and cannot seem to program my backup. Does anyone know if my backup can be programmed when I no longer have the primary? Is there a way to erase whatever pairing was done with the primary so that the car assumes that the new transmitter is the first one to be programmed?
I get to step 7 and the door locks do not activate in response. Any ideas? I checked the battery with a voltmeter and it says it is still good. I Think either the transmitter is bad or there is a problem because the primary transmitter is not being used to get through steps 1 - 6. Any ideas?
