That's me, acting like Evan...

Looking at the pics, I am dissapointed in the parking garage ones. It was very dark in there, which made it hard to get clear, crisp pictures (even with the tripod). Mine and ZoomDoom's black cars I think were the hardest to photograph because the gym lighting left weird orange-brown coloring on our cars. Phen's miata turned out okay, and Evan's silver Protege I think benefitted from the weird lighting-I love how his car seems to fade from silver to orange in some of the pictures. I want to apologize to ZoomDoom since I am not happy with the pics...We will do outside shots sometime man!

As for the rolling shots, they turned out pretty decent once we got the hang of it! The only thing I would tweak is try going a little faster (40 mph) and use a slightly faster shutter speed--some of the pictures are washed out because it was so bright out.

I used F8.0 or 9.0 and a 1/40th-ish shutter speed for rolling shots. Most of what I just wrote is for next time when I have a photoshoot-just wanted to log what I did and how I can improve.

Enjoy!

Yep. 90 degrees + sun + black leather and a down pipe 3" from your leg makes it a bit toasty inside. Hahaha. We were traveling at a relatively slow speed for rolling shots, so that is what made it a little uncomfortable. 40+ is nice ventilation.

I feel ya, I've got no a/c... (cryhard)

*Maybe reserved for more pics

NICE PICS... for the rolling shots, maybe next time try to shoot at a later time in the day for lower light with either the same shutter speed or even a bit slower, but this time strobe the shot with an external flash (if you have one). Like this the background will show up even more blurry and by strobing the shot, the car will come out nice and sharp. (wrc)

What kinda camera are you using?

Thanks again for taking pics, James!

Phen, did you mean to wear that pink shirt?

No... I actually didn't expect to make it out to the parking deck. There was an afterwork outing, but i had to bail on that to do something else... so after that I was free and I figured, why not?

Nice to see some zoom zoom representing the exchange deck...I've gone to akron for 4 years and have always lived on campus but will be commuting for the first time in this upcoming year... I drove (and delivered the buchtelites every tuesday and thursday in) a 2000 protege dx with gts headlight covers and ghettooo ass black grille... just traded her in for a black mica MSP last week... keep me posted on future happenings

LOL i was laughing at your seriousness too, but LOVE the pink shirt!! (wink)

(2thumbs) and the cute hair cut!!(lol2)

My girlfriend Justine, who was present and saw the alleged pink shirt in action, had the following to say when I told her Stephen was getting it from the others on the forum:

"I know my shades of pink. They can say what they want but his shirt wasn't pink. It was red that has been washed too many times."

Please say it ain't so, Phen. Say it ain't so!

Thanks again for taking pics, James!

Anytime my man! It was a blast! With Miata owners, I think the pink shirts come naturally. I hear Mazda actually gives them out free when you purchase new Miatas now...

Thanks for all the advice! Camera is a Canon Rebel XS--shot with kit 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. I also have the 50mm f1.8 and a Tamron 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 1:2 Macro Di lens in my bag....no flash yet....

Besides every Sunday at Superfly from 6-9, the next scheduled event is probably July 24th at MidOhio Sports Car Course for a regional NASA event. I highly recommend going. It's a laid back atmosphere where you can learn up close and personal about the race cars, the drivers, and the track. Very cool! There is a thread in the Ohio section. Hope to see you around, as I commute to and from UA as well! One year to go!

Very cool. Check the events in my signature.

Add the NASA event to your sig? I'm pretty sure the entire forum will see it in your sig then! Let's get a big group down there this time!

Truth be told, the shirt is the same color as when I bought it. My metro-training has been dormant for some time, so I really can't tell you the exact shade, but it's not a red shirt washed too much. However... I do have a bright pink button down. It was just too damn hot to wear it.

I'll get the NASA event in my sig. Hopefully I can make it. Hahaha.
