Just a little venting..... i just went thru the drive thru @ taco HELL and got an extra large Mountain Dew (44oz) and took the freeway offramp to fast and it tipped right over and like an F'in RIVER i had "Lake O' Dew and Ice" all over me the center console the floor mat, under the floor mat AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SOOOOOO PISSSSSSSSED everything (including me) is already sticky!!!!!!!!! SORRY Had to vent!:wtf: :'(

ooooh yes... i have been there so many times!

It sucks...i took the mats out and used the Oxy clean as mentioned.

Just dont leave wet mats in the car overnight...tends to build up the mildew smell.

If that doesn't work, try a steam cleaner. Those Bissel green clean machines are great at getting out just about anything.

i did the same exact thing while leaving subway in my 89 CRX Si once, i just cleaned up what was wet with a towel and never really cleaned it after that. oh well, i sold that car. :)

My 2002 P5 stunk seriously of beer. I bought upholstry and carpet shampoo in the Wal-Mart auto section (Blue Coral brand, or something like that). Worked like a charm. Even smelled new, until my wife spilled beer in it that night.

Using chemicals like peroxide will take the color out. Never ever use oxy-anything anywhere near sunlight. No one in these forums seems to read the car's manual. It's in the glove compartment.

P.S. the first thing my wife did when I brought it home from the dealer was put a cigarette out in the cup holder! Mazda should have put a light down there.

After reading my post, that "reading the manual" remark looked a little snotty, especially since it was my first post.
No offence intended,

Silver P5 owner.

Need to set up my signature I guess.

I swear, my old Escort must have had some sort of magnet for drinks. It seemed as though every other drink (large of course) I brought into the car ended up falling over. I've become extra paranoid in with the Protege in that no one drinks anything in the car. I've also found that the compartment in the center console (behind the e-brake) is perfect for all large drinks.

And Get rid of that wife who puts cigs out in your cup holder and spills beer in your car right after you clean it LoL

hahahaha kinda reminds me of what happened in my 1st gen...

i got a pop waaaay too big for my cup holders, and asked my friend to hold onto it while i was driving...so she puts it in between her legs...so im drivin and there was a light, and i was just really slow to re act , so i had to brake pretty hard and next thing i knew there was a ******* pool of diet coke in my car

oh and another time i had a huge shiver from TCBY...yeah, that whole thing of sticky ice cream...all over my car...luckily, most of it got on my rubber mats that were in my old car, lol

heh. The cupholders in the 1st gens were crap (my Escort is the same FWIW). I couldn't really keep anything stable unless it was a 12oz. can.

Thats why I don't let anybody in my car with a drink, and if you have food it has to be sealed, and it stays in the trunk.:D

lol well someone spilled a whole large chocolate milk shake in the back of my 92 civic one time... hehe at least you didnt have to clean that s*** out

somehow everyday mishaps like spills and I hit a flying reindeer may not be directly related to PROTEGE5's they may be due to carelessness and eratic driving...

You let her smoke in the car?? ewww

I hate letting any food or drink in my car, I only let it happen on rare special occasions and only non-messy "safe" food/drinks!!

I try not to be too anal about stuff like that. It just ain't worth it, plus you don't live as long stressing out about the little things either. Leaves more time for smoking!

PS Still gotta get a signature for this thing.

Q: spilling beer in the car? hope you don't get pulled over before you clean it up... smell might give you away :D
