wow, 1000$ intake manifold to fix an idle issue....not so sure about that...whats up with the idle?

The Service Advisor felt that the idle sounded a bit loud and said something about one of the valves was probably not opening fully. He suggested I replace the intake manifold. To be honest, the engine sounds fine. He unplugged something near the engine and it did quiet down to a subtle idle but it wasn't even much of a noticabe difference. I know the intake manifold is somewhat of a common problem on the 3 but I don't know if it's worth fixing (if there is even a problem) right now- like I said it runs good, still getting good gas mileage. Hopefully I'm not hurting the car.

well i guess there is a known problem with the butterfly valves in the intake....it seems like the only real reason to change the intake out is if your gas mileage goes down or the nosie becomes so loud you can't stand it...?
