2010 CX-9 - Keep entertainment screen and rear view camera view from dimming when turning on lights?

Whenever I turn the lights on the lights during the day everything dims and I cant figure out if its possible to keep it on the normal daytime brightness. Because this model has no day time running lights there are times when I want to have the lights on during the day. The issue is the car thinks its night so it dims the screen. I haven't figured out a way to get it bright again. Spinning the dial that adjusts the dashboard lights doesn't do anything for the screen. Is it possible to keep the screen at maximum brightness or is this just a feature I have to live with?

Have you tried pressing on the little stalk that is on the dash (the dial that adjust the dashboard light)? In my other cars you can press that dial to turn on or off the dimming function.
