1999, Protege, auto trans, 151K miles.

Good Morning.
First timer, here.
I have a 1999, black, 4 door, automatic. Live in Baltimore.
Transmission is slipping for up to 5 seconds when I shift into drive. On occasion, O/D panel light flashes.
It appears that I need a new transmission.
Any advice on repairs, replacement or any other options?

rarely ever do you need a new trans. it's probably a solenoid going bad.. especially at 150k+ miles. pick up a cheap obdII code reader and get the code(s) the next time it flashes and post them here. or just go to auto zone they do it for free.

You should have tho oil level checked, and perhaps it's a good time to change the transmission oil.
