hey jsut wondering if anyone knew if a V6(say from a Probe, MX-3, MX-6) would fit in a P5? I've been a fan of 4 bangers for a long time, but lately I've been grinning at the sound of V6s. Could this swap happen or is it just a pipe dream? Thanks for all your help!

well,,,,,,,, pretty much a pipe dream!

do some searchin' around here you'll see it's been discussed-

Yeah, why don't you just throw a front engine rear drive layout with the S2000 engine in there! Drift it! . . . Umm, no.

The V6 from the MX-3 was OK for a tiny little coupe, but it's a 1.8L V6. Why the heck would you want that? You have a 2.0L 4 that responds well to boost. The work you'll do to get an old worn out stock v6 in there is rediculous. Way more expensive than NA build up or boost.

the v6 from the japanese mx6 (the KLZE) made a little over 200 horsepower and lb/ft of torque. personally i see no reason why the KLZE cannot be made to fit. its a 2.5 liter engine that is easily shoehorned into a first gen protege, 323s and mx3s. it has been discussed but no one has tried to pull it off. i wish someone would as I also like the sound of a nice v6 :D

(I'll probably get flammed for this, but (flame) )

If we're going with a V6, how 'bout the Yamaha built 3.2 liter from the '93-'95 Taurus SHO automatics. 220 hp, great on gas, reliable as you can get (200,000 miles easy), and just plain sweet to look at......

Hell, sure... I'll throw the KL-ZE in my car this weekend, and let you all know how it goes! Yeeeah, right. =)

Kinda makes me wish I had the money just to try it. Hehe.

Yeah, well, as long as we're dreaming why stop at a V6? Hell, just go buy a built-up small-block Chevy V8, I'm sure as long as money's no object there's a way to do it, or take out the rear seats and drop in a 911T flat six in there.

Because the KL-ZE 2.5L was put in Probes/MX6's that shared the 2.0L engine with us.

bingo, as well as the 626 which shared 2.0s with the protege

Yep. I should actually just say the K series V6, since the KL-ZE was only in overseas vehicles, as far as I know. The K3-DE was used in the US Probe/626/MX6/Millenia chassis.

people have swapped klze in to Escorts and MX3s. You will need to get the v6 mounts from the MX3 and all the wireharness/ecu and such. It is a very possible easy swap.

Heres what i know

Our 2.0(1996cc) Engine block is the same as the MX6/probe 4cyl engine block..

93+ mx6/probe offered a V6 KL03 - 170hp and the J-spec was a KLZE has approx 200hp

Sooo If the V6 fit in where the 4cyl block fit then it should be entirely possible to fit either the KL03(170hp) or the KLZE(200hp) engine into our car.. but it culd possibly throw off the whole weight distribution of the car because i believe the V6's are very heavy!

Hope that helps!
