Hello,

My fuel pump assembly and fuel tank was completely rusted out and wreaking of gas in the car. Had them both replaced but now the fuel gauge doesn't want to work. Showing completely empty. Not sure where to check next. Anyone have any experience with this and know how to fix it? It's a 2002 Protege ES. Thanks.

Was the fuel sending unit replaced? It is not uncommon for non-factory (aftermarket) sending units to be bad, right out of the package,

That's a good question. All I ordered was the "Fuel Pump Assembly" ZL01-13-35ZA which is #15 in the picture attached. I assume I need #21 which is the "Fuel Sender and Hanger Assembly. Fuel Tank Sending Unit. Gauge unit." We'll see what the mechanic tells me. Thanks for the info.
