Latest Project, Plasti-Dipped front Grills and installed Auxillary Grills

Last week I had a lil time on my hands and decided to do something i've been meaning to do since i bought the 9. I wanted to install secondary grills behind the factory ones to protect the radiator and condenser fins from damage by road debris. The bumper had top come off for me to do this and so while i was at it i decided i would Plasti-Dip the chrome portions of the front partially to see if i would like the look and partially because i don't really care for the smiling face.

Looks great! How about some details?
What type of material did you use for the auxiliary grills, and how did you install?

i used metal gutter guard for the aux grills. Zip tied to the factory grill.

Had to remove bumper to get access to rear of factory grills.

I think i may Plasti-Dip the wheels later on as well...

Wonder how the plasti-dip would look on a black car... I'm not too too keen on the chrome. I'm indifferent really

the dip i used was the standard type and it's a matte finish. it also comes in a gloss as well or you could just clear coat it.

Looks great. I've considered Plasti Dipping the front grills since we got our CX9 as well.

I am wondering if the grills pop out without taking the bumper off?
