Winter tires/rims?

Yes they will.....1993 steelies from an Eclipse/Talon/Laser fit perfectly. If you can't find those specifically look for 14x5.5 +35 offset with the 5x114.3 bolt pattern and a hub bore of 67.1. My current set-up includes '93 Eclipse steelies with 185/70/14s with no rubbing, the recommened size would be 185/65/14.

Wow, there are a lot more choices at better prices with 185/65/14. Does the 14" rim look funny on a P5? Got any pics? :)

^^^^Yes there are but when you get all four with only one season on them for $100....it's a no brainer. :)

IMO...not too bad....nice and meaty. (lol2) Here are some pics.....these are at stock height. I'll get some pics with the new suspension very soon.

That looks great, I'm amazed the caliper doesn't rub :p

The difference between the stock size and those 14s is 5mm, that's even better than the 195/50/15 tires I was using last year. Thanks for the tip eh!

Hey, I found a set of 185/70/14 tires for sale at a great price, doing the math it seems they'll be 13.2mm larger in diameter than the stock wheels (195/50/15). That won't rub with the stock suspension right?

thanks for the response, maybe i'll pick up the set from my buddy for the winter

Do it....you won't regret it!

I've had no rubbing issues at all while running these the last two years at stock height.

Offset will vary by year, model etc, ie: Protege5 are +50, 06+ MX-5 are +55 (16" wheels), Tribute are +45 etc....sadly I don't know the offset for the 626....

Any idea where I can get that info? I'm having a real hard time finding reliable measurements :(

I asked another member who is a bit more familiar with the 626 and he thinks the steelies use a +50 offset.....

I've got the 626 14" steelies, and I'd guess they're around a +50 offset. I checked on the inside of the rim once and I couldn't find anything that said what they were. Mine have 185/70's on them, it's a pretty narrow rim.

Any advantages to going with 14's vs 15's other then price? 185 is skinnier then the 195's usually listed for 15's IMO I was always told that a skinnier tire did better in the snow/ice but that's just the old man's opinion, never really had a chance to check it out. Though my old Tempo with 185's was one of the better winter beaters I've ever had, never did get that stuck.

Just price for me, you'll get better handling with a 15" because of the smaller sidewall.
