Protege High Mileage Club

New to the club, 2002 Protege ES sitting at 209,591 kms, just over 130,000 miles. A few cosmetic issues, but still runs like a champ

2002 Protege5 white with simple mods done to it. It's already at 158,000 miles, 2nd timing belt, routella t6 oil (pushing to over 6,000 miles per oil change), and running great. Though it has a hesitation idle after running for a while, goes to below 500rpms then goes back up. Still running great nonetheless.

I have a Blazin' with 157K (I bought it with 4 miles on it), rusty but the engine and Turbo (and Interior) are excellent. The LSD (120,000 miles) is welded by my friend (a professional Welder) and the Tranny was rebuilt last year or so with the Exedy Stage 2. She burns a 1/2 to 3/4 qt of oil a month, no leaks. It has a two year old Yellow Top Optima with Custom Billet Aluminum Battery cage, and Firsty (1sty) Grounding kit, Aftermarket SMIC and Piping and all aftermarket Motor Mounts and a $1,500 Webasto Supersize Programmable Sunroof/Moonroof. If somebody was local I would charge $1,500 for the whole deal, if somebody comes from out of Ohio, I will let her go for $1,400 (pick up only). She has never been on a track.

The car can be driven, just not too much longer without proper rust repair. The engine and tranny are primo!

Update: The MSP is in new hands for a new life. Gone but not forgotten at 157,000 fun miles. The 2014 Red Atenza GT has been filling in nicely so far!

Cool thread. I have a 2000 Protege 1.8L ES that just hit 161,000 miles. Can't say it's free of any issues, as the transmission seems like it's on it's way out. (Intermittent O/D off light)

runs great! Love driving this thing but my daughter took it last year to school. Hope she makes it to 400K!!

My last post was 03-31-2014

A little dirty, but yeah. Bone stock except for CR3 clunk-fix brackets and an Alpine head unit. '03.5 MSP
