Help! Need suggestions on best replacement tires.

I like the Hankook i*cept Evo W310 winter tires, were good on my Mazda3 hatchback last winter.

    Winter Tires!

I bought a set of Hankook Winter i*cept Evo W310's for my Mazda3 last November, 205/55R16, though they're available in 205/50R17 according to the manufacturer. They were good on all sorts of wintery surfaces in the mountains, inexpensive.

    Manual Transmission dipstick location.

Yeah, manual transmissions and MTF don't generally require servicing often. They don't "burn through" oil, hence it's fairly common for them to only have drain and fill plugs, no dipstick. There's not even a recommended MTF change interval based on time or miles in the Mazda service schedule or...

    Soft Windshield?

Those kind of rock chips and resulting hairline cracks are common to folks who drive the freeways around Denver. Once you have the chip, the best way to prevent it turning into a growing crack is to get some windshield repair product that fills it in. It doesn't even take extreme heat, just...

One Week with car and my wife backs into a car...

Now you just need to make sure she follows the driver's ed truism: You should always be looking directly in the direction of motion. When backing up, that means twist your spine and look over your right shoulder. It could just as easily have been a 3 year old, not a door, that she hit. This...

    04-09 Mz3 Battery question

Why do you say the stock battery is woefully inadequate? Car batteries are pretty standardized things. You should be able to pick up one whose specifications are appropriate for your '08 MZ3 5-door just about anywhere general car parts are sold (Wal-Mart, Sears, Autozone, NAPA, etc.) The only...

    rpms sticking?

Yeah, no, it would have to happen every time you push the clutch after accelerating in gear, it would be consistent from the day you bought the car. I'm thinking upon re-reading this is something else entirely you're experiencing.

Post The BEST Pictures OF YOUR MAZDA

Very clean looking FD. They'll still look cool in another twenty years. :)

    rpms sticking?

I could be crazy, but I think the ECU is helping you out with rev matching for downshifting. My 2010.5 MZ3 2.5l 6MT does the same thing.

Mazda Develops Highly Efficient "SKYACTIV-G 1.3" Direct-Injection Gasoline Engine

Interesting to see so much technology crammed into such a small displacement piston engine. Peak 84 bhp while still capable of up to 70 MPG (if this metric conversion is correct) is an astonishing achievement for this little I4. My first car (93 Ford Festiva) had a Mazda B3 1.3l I4 engine the...

    Let's see some Mazda3 5-doors

Not enough 2nd gens in this thread. Here ya go: 2010.5 MZ3 s Sport 6MT, just had parking lot dents/dings removed professionally, a DIY hand wash, clay bar, wax coat.

    Turbocharging a 2010 Mz3

One thing nobody seems to be bringing up in all this is insurance. I've heard the MS3 is typically significantly more expensive to insure; is this true, and what kind of split are we talking vs the MZ3 2.5l? Aaaaand... legally speaking, would it be shady in any way to use insurance savings to...

    [HELP] Unfixable Alignment Issue

I don't get it; you said you got the four-wheel alignment service. They should have given you before and after numbers, and the numbers should be able to speak for themselves. If they are claiming that it is aligned within factor spec and you're still having all these problems, I'd question the...

    2010 3 with 17k and a destroyed clutch

20K seems too soon, and yeah, I kept the old car, a 98 Civic hatchback 5MT, and it's got 218K on the factory clutch, and here's hoping for 300K. I'll be somewhat disappointed if my 10'MZ3 clutch gets less than 200K, though I've got no idea at this point if I'll keep it long enough to find out...

    A/C smoking; loud noise

Not something I've experienced, so I'm not sure, but could it be AC belt slippage? When you get a chance you should pop the hood and see if you can see it happening. Otherwise, dunno.

    Long term fuel trim bank

Aren't most people recommending the DashDaq these days, as the DashHawk hasn't been updated since 2007? I've got the UltraGauge on my 2nd gen NA MZ3, but it definitely is a subset of all the ECU sensors found on the more expensive products, and no data logging. You get what you pay for, but the...

    2010 Mazda3 Gas Mileage Roll Call...Please...

2010.5 MZ3 s Sport 2.5l 6-MT: I'm averaging about 29.5-30.5 MPG on tank fill-ups this winter (on winter tires) down maybe 1-2 MPG from summer driving on the OEM 17" tires. Most of my driving is between 5000-9000ft elevation (literally that range multiple times per tank) on 85-octane EF10...

    Transmission oil change

It's not it the 2010 MZ3 owner's manual or the service schedules. It's not in the 2010 MZ3/MS3 shop service manual. This has been discussed in other threads and on other forums. If I'm going to replace it with a 'better' fluid, I might do my first change at 15K miles. Otherwise, somewhere...

    TPMS Light Question

Yeah, I went from OEM wheels+tires to winter wheels+tires about a month ago, and the TPMS warning light will activate within a few moments of putting the car in motion, if not sooner, and stay lit. It's basically never not-lit, except maybe when I first start it next to my stacked OEM...

why do our cars whine in reverse?

Yeah, I think it would get pretty old in a daily driver, that's true. Kinda feel the same way about some aftermarket exhaust options too. Cool for a few minutes, wearying for the long haul. I guess automotive romanticism has to stop somewhere, and that'd be about 15 minutes into the commute. :)
