Noob to Mazda intake question inside.

Without a Cobb AP (which can be purchased used for less than $500) there is no possible way to measure if the HPFP fuel pressure is dipping below 1600 PSI at WOT. Every car and setup is different so it is impossible to say that your setup is fine without monitoring it. I am helping someone who...

    FS: Protege Garage Turbo Inlet

Do you know what the Inner Diameter or Outer Diameter of the TIP is?

    Intake 3" VS 2"

I believe the CS SRI is considered a 2.5" intake but they say the opening is 66mm. There is power to be had by going up to a 3" Sure SRI/TIP or 3.5" JBR Intake but you will need a Cobb AP in order to adjust for the additional airflow. You will also need to relocate the ECU since the intake will...

    Forge Recirc BPV??

The only way to know for sure is to get a COBB AP to monitor your Fuel Pressure at WOT. On my Genpu with similar mods, I was dipping below 1600 PSI on almost every run so I upgraded the Fuel Pump Internals ASAP. If you want to be extra careful, remove the test pipe and put the stocker back in...

    heatsoak

The only reasons to get a front mount on a GenPu is if you like checking your sparkplugs often, racing, and or getting a Big Turbo. If you do go front mount you will probably need to upgrade your radiator or oil cooling system to offset the airflow that will be blocked off by said front mount.

When do you need a tune?!

Well you can go on MSF and ask for help. Doing a basic tune is not that hard. Just take it slow.

    O2 Sensor?

Then you should be fine. :)

How to train your Mazdaspeed3 (dragon)

Welcome. I have only had my "Dragon" since March and I have done a bit of modding to it. The car is fun yet terrifying to drive at the same time. I would avoid lowering springs on stock struts because you typically comprimise your ride/handling because you have lowered your available...

CORKSPORT Stage II Power Series Short Ram Intake--Void factory Warranty

As far as intakes go, the only intake that will not Void your warranty for issues possibly related to the intake, is the Mazdaspeed one and only if you buy it from the dealer and have them install it. Since the Install is easy, you could throw the stock stuff back on for dealership visits.

Just installed turbosmart bov. I have some questions.

If your only mods and are the Turbosmart (and if you are running it in recirc mode or 50/50 hybrid mode) and a Corksport SRI and TIP, then you should be OK. If you go any further, especially if you get a Downpipe and or Test Pipe/2nd Cat Delete, you will need to get CDFP Fuel Pump Internals...

    O2 Sensor?

If you are running a downpipe on a Genpu chances are that your CDFP fuel pressures will drop below 1600 PSI at WOT which could lead to ZOOM ZOOM BOOM! I would get the Fuel Pump Internals and an AP ASAP. As far as the check engine light goes, you could get a spacer for the 2nd O2 sensor to fool...

When do you need a tune?!

OP, to make it simple, you should get a tune if you have at least the following mods: Intake & TIP Fuel Pump Internals Downpipe and or Testpipe/2nd Cat Delete Get the Fuel Pump Internals before doing any exhaust upgrades (except for the catback since it is mainly for exhaust note).

Cobb Accessport Dongle vs. No Dongle

The newer AP takes several more recordings than the first generation. I am not sure of the number but it is at least 4 times as many. My logs on the second gen are at least 4 times longer than the first gen versions in the same time frame.

    2012 Hypertech? Any news??

LOL, I don't want to waste my breath over the arguement between which is better. Seriously though, why get a Speed 3 unless you are going to mod it? I don't like the complexity of the interface of the COBB AP but it has its uses. What I am really waiting for is the Versa Tuner for the Gen 2's.

    Accessport on a stock Speed3

I suggest getting a stiffer rear motor mount as your first mod (will make shifting much smoother and lessen engine movement), then Intake and TIP, then Fuel Pump Internals, COBB AP, then Downpipe or testpipe/2nd cat delete. This will allow you to run the sucky Stage 2 OTS MAPS. At this point you...

    LTFT's and STFT's?!?!?!?!?

Hot weather can increase the LTFT's a bit. According to COBB + or - 8 is acceptable but I like + or -2 myself. Did you reset the ECU after uninstalling the SRI?

    Spark Plugs

I got the one step colder NGK's as well. The autolites will work just fine from what I hear. How much boost are you planning on running? Unless you get all of the supporting mods and go at leat 18 PSI, I wouldn't bother.
