    random hazard light flashing

Seemingly out of nowhere and in response to no inputs, 3 times today my hazard lights have started flashing, the high beam indicator lights without high beams on and I can't turn the hazards off manually, they just stop by themselves after a while. Anybody else seen this? I am not prepared to...

    SenSen shocks

Ok, kids, in response to the shock oil tar sands appearing under my car, I just bought a set of the above shocks from APX auto. I just want a stock replacement damper with a small quality/damping upgrade so, these seem to offer that, at a very reasonable price ($160/set of 4). I also further...

    WTB: Stock MS3 shocks, unblown

I have a blown RR shock. I'm selling this car within a year or so, hence I'm not sticking Konis in there. Anyone got any good condition stockers lying about?

    Key remote issues

Anybody have random failures of the car to respond to the remote lock and unlock? I have 2 keys and the car has done this, on and off, since new, with either one. I'm not inclined to have Mazda look at it either since the problem is not consistently repeatable.

    Thanks to Dents Unlimited

...for their fine work removing what some Philistine in a Goliath pickup dinged into in my passenger rear door. Even got the scuff out of the POS paint on this car. Well worth the 100 bucks. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, too.

    Throttle water and BATs

After putting on my FMIC and not getting enough drop in BAT to totally satisfy me, I bypassed the throttle water today and bam, instant 20+ degree drop and regularly running in the range from 100 to 120. Makes the car feel alot better at that temp, definitely. I let it idle in the driveway for...

    New GT

My wife just bought a '10 GT 2.5 to replace her '05 GT that started all this Mazda ownership. I drove all the hatchback cars when we got the '05 and I said, "You know, this is the best car, it just needs a bit more power for me." Frankly, they all did (including the overpriced GTi, in second...

    My Hypertech Impressions

Ok, here are my initial impressions: Install was easy but, I needed to do it on my wEEE-PC that uses XP, despite the claim that it would work on my 64 bit Vista Ultimate OS. Two attempted installs on that platform failed at the update stage, the XP install was without difficulty, though. The...

    Mod fail....

I have to sheepishly declare fail on one of my homebrewed mods on this car. I epoxy-filled the stock RMM a year ago, to help quell lash and hop. It worked well but, today I went to install an SU RMM I got cheap, used, and the epoxy had pretty much all fallen out over the course of the year. So...

SRI v. CAI...this time with actual data

I bought a second filter, to turn my AEM CAI into an SRI, because I can and, I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have some actual data to finally answer the which one is better pissing match that has occurred here and elsewhere, in the past. Here's the data I collected via Dashhawk and, my...

    budget heavyweight shift knob

You guys are gonna love this: In the spirit of my homemade CAI trial and my Snazzy Short Throw Shift Plate, I looked around the house for some materials to weight up the shifter. What I found was 500 grams of Daisy BBs, a sandwich bag, a zip tie and some packing tape. I put the BBs into the...

    Weird electrical glitch

Just a report out. 08 Speed about 20,000 miles Last night, while driving, hazards came on by themselves, high beam light displayed on dash with highs off. Car continued to run and after pulling over and shutting it off, it restarted and the problem disappeared. I think it must have...

    Manual boost controller

So, I dredged up some of my obscure knowledge from the CTP (Cretaceous Turbo Period) and made an M(ade)B(ackyard)C(ontroller) for the car. Shockingly, it actually works perfectly on this car, too, just as it did on those old 1980s Turbobags I used to run. I've got it adjusted to hold 19 psi...

    First time CDFP internals

I need a bit of help with this: How do I get the retainer off the stock internal's shaft? TYVM.

    Seafoam wowza

I just ran a 1/2 can of Seafoam through a vac line and wow, I have never, ever, in over 25 years of doing this, seen a car smoke that hard on cleanout. ...and I started doing this stuff back in the bad old days of the '70s, resurrecting junkyard-dog smog motors and stuff. The car only has...

pulled out my leakdown gear and...

....woot, everything is ok, despite breathing mods, a bit of racing and a few missed shifts on the way. All four pots on my 08 test out allright and basically equal. The only PITA was finding actual TDC for each hole. This was made much easier when the leakdown fitting jammed in a plug hole and...

Anybody else getting dicked around by...

...PtP re. pumps or internals? This is the third "next week" prediction I've got from them that they have failed to deliver on. I understand some of the internals came through, failed QC and were sent back by PtP but, that was ages ago now. Anybody know WTF is really going on?

More reasons why I like this car

I've been delving into a fair bit of mechanical work on this car, voluntarily, cuz I like to tweak stuff and improve performance and, what I love about this car is the triumph of sensible mechanical engineering it is. Nothing is made needlessly difficult, access is easy for most things...
