    So long Mazda5

Its been a good run, but with all the upcoming repairs it was time to move on. Already spent over $2500 this year in repairs and still have 4 new tires to buy, after market kit to finally fix the reacamber issue, right front wheel bearing to do, Clutch to replace, rear wheel-well rust to...

    Engine Air Filter

$20 is a good price. The cheapest I've seen here in Toronto is $25 at Walmart!!! Everywhere else is closer to $30 for some freaking pleated paper and a plastic frame!!!

Poll: Would you buy another Mazda product?

Unfortunately probably not. I love my Mz5 but My next vehicle is likely to be something like the Jeep Patriot as Mazda droped the Tribute and doesnt offer any AWD/4WD products with a manual transmission currently

    Oil usage in 2006 M5 sport...problem?

Idont know about this 1 quart 1000 "mazda standard" I've never heard of such a thing from Mazda yet. Sounds like an excuss to me. I have 200,000km on my 2006 Mz5 and I use 0 zero oil between changes,, I always keep a quart in the car just in case (bad experience with a previous car) but...

    Rear hatch cracks

I suspect this has more to do with the 2 stage struts than the hatch design itsself! Do we really need a hatch that opens most of the way, and then requires an additional push to make it go the last 3 or 4 inches!!

Sway Bar Links, Bushings, any ideas?

Odds are it is the sway bar bushings and links. I just had mine replaced recently and before I replaced them, the back end of the car sounded like an old truck! clunking over every bump and dip in the road!

    winter/snow tire recommendation

Hopefully the blizzaks have improved a lot in the last few years. I had them for my last car and they were the worst tires I've ever bought. Just no traction at all in snow and ice! They're as good winter tires as the oem Mazda5 Toyo proxies a18's. Yes, they're that bad! I'm using Pirelli...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

I just changed air filters to a fram 2x filter and my mileage went up substantially!! 3 tanks in a row of 8l/100km! I've gone from 24.6 mpg to 29mpg!!! No other changes!! And that's with 190,000km on the od!

What do I do with my Mazda5?

45k is nothing, I'm at 189,000km and just spent a bunch of money doing suspension work. your 5 is barely even broken in yet! I'd just drive the hell out of it. at your mileage, you could probably get 5 more years out of it if the rust doesnt get it first!

Help! Inno or Thule roof rack owners

I have the Inno rack and can confirm that the moon roof DOES clear the rack, but only if you don't have anything attached to the rack! With my 2 bike racks installed I cannot open the moon roof fully! I can open it 75% but not slide it open. Think of it as an extended vent position. but thats...

Interior design question. Which is better?

There's not much about the 2012 interior or exterior that I like. I think Mazda is trying really hard to turn the mazda5 into a regular boring minivan! From the tail lights, to the sidecswoops, to the front grill to the miles and miles of bulky dash! I thnk they tried too hard!

Manual Owners - How many miles do you have on your clutch? Original or New?

The difficult reverse engagement has more to do with the design of the reverse shift gate. If you stop momentarily in neutral, reverse can sometimes be easier to get into. Same problem on the mazda3

Manual Owners - How many miles do you have on your clutch? Original or New?

Original clutch ... 190,000km. No issues yet, but I might replace it next summer when I'm at the 210,000 mark. If i could find a DIY on the Mazda, I might try to do it myself!

    Purge Solenoid Valve

the slight studder at idle seems to be normal. Mines dones that ever since april 2006 when it was born! Even after the PCM update from one of the TSB's way back when.

    2008 Mazda5, banging/rattling noise in front suspension

First thing you have to find out is if the TSB has been done on your vehicle (I suspect not, given you have the squeeking still). I have a 2006 and had the TSB done 5 years ago. No squeeks from my front suspension due to the control arms since then! The struts and other items seem to last as...

2010 Mazda 5 Sliding door is stuck shut and will not open

Why not just take it into the dealer?? a 2010 should still be under warranty!

My M5 is stalling!! pcv valve?

Could also be the purge valve. When mine went, I had the same symptoms. Lots of hesitation when idling. $300 repair if you dont do it yourself ( the part is $120 ) at Canadian rip-off pricing!

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

repairs, more repairs. Today it's rear swaybar links and bushings, right front strut and mounts...$800 worth oh well, cant complain too much the car is 6 years old and has 185,000km on the clock! hopefully I can get another 60-70,000km out of it before I have to replace it! I'd really like...
