How bad is the stock sound system?

The base sound system in my '14 was a major improvement from my '99 Ford. However, Ford was (is?) in love with the 5x7 speaker size, which has created holy wars about sound quality. I feel the Ford system, even after I upgraded the deck and the speakers, had almost no low end and poor/mediocre...

Mazda KT-6110 Navigation System - Manual?/ Bluetooth Setup

A lot of bluetooth devices use 0000 as the default PIN. My laptop mouse does, as well as my LG stereo I use in my garage.

    Went with Eibach

The Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act says your warranty won't be void by modifications unless the aftermarket part caused the problem. "Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If...

Can the 2005 Mazda 3 Hatchback Handle Low Oil?

Yeah, even if she wasn't running dangerously low on oil, I would run away from a car that went almost 15,000 miles in between oil changes. Even if it was AMSOIL.

Oil on Spark Plug Threads? 05 Mazda3 2.3S

Ford and Mazda were joined at the hip for a long time. I'm most familiar with Ford's 2.5L and 3L V6 Duratec, the latter of which was the debut engine for the Mazda 6 in the US. The Mazda B series for a while was pretty much just a rebranded Ford Ranger. I looked up the valve cover gasket for...

Oil on Spark Plug Threads? 05 Mazda3 2.3S

I'm used to the o-ring type gaskets as well and I'm not familiar with the 2.3L, but I found this pic for a Focus: It seems like the tubes are just really oddly shaped.

Oil on Spark Plug Threads? 05 Mazda3 2.3S

If the piston rings were going the oil would get burned up in the combustion chamber and you'd see blue smoke coming from the exhaust. If you're really concerned, a compression test or leak down test would confirm whether this is the case. A bad PCV would allow excess oil from the crankcase...

Standard (non-Infotainment / Bose) Speaker Sizes?

Is this still necessary? Crutchfield now says 6 1/2" speakers can be mounted in the front and rear doors if you use Metra brackets that they have in stock and drill new screw holes. I'd rather not have to hack up my door with a rotary tool if at all possible.

WeatherTech vs Husky - Floor Mats

I was looking at the pictures of both online and trying to figure that out. I'm not that big of a person, but I find that I have to rest my foot on the dead pedal. Any time it snows I'd be putting saltwater there, which is exactly what I'm trying to stop with the mats. Thanks for clarifying that.

    Additional power socket/cigarette lighter

I thought in the 2015 if there is no CD player they put the power socket/USB/Aux port in that spot. I sat in a 2015 Sport at the dealership that was set up that way. If that's your situation you could probably swap it if you don't mind losing the CD player.

    2014+ Mazda3 annoyances and/or issues

I'm coming from a '99 Ford, so a lot of complaints I'm seeing are actually improvement from what I'm coming from, like the side mirrors. I'd say there's 33% or more real estate to the mirror on my 3. I've only had the car for a few days so I haven't adjusted completely yet, but right now my...

What did you pay for your Mazda3 w/ Taxes and Fees?

I just picked up my 'new' 2014 3 i Touring w/ manual in Meteor Gray on Tuesday for $19180 after TT&L. It was being sold as used because it was Mazda exec driven and titled, but it came to the dealer with less than 150 miles on it. They definitely gave a sob story about how they were already...
